Tasted at Havana 1920 in San Diego on 5-18-24. Pours a cloudy reddish amber. Initial aroma to me right out of the bottle was vinegar and paper mache. But once I started sniffing it, I get giant toffee, caramel and treacle. Amazing complex flavors. Horehound candy and chicory. This is outrageous.

Tasted at Havana 1920, San Diego May 18 2024.
Appearance: medium amber, gold lights
Aroma: sugar cured ham - brown sugar and pineapple, candied.
Flavor: finishes with dust and bandaid and sweetness. Sweet and lovely.
Tasting notes: let's talk about this complex and amazing rum. It's got smoke, sweetness, cedar, maybe chocolate if I squint - layers and layers. Totally recommend ❤️

Tasted at Havana 1920 in San Diego on 5-18-24. Pours clear. Fantastic aroma of dough and grass and just maybe a splash of mayonnaise. How is it that I’m tasting peppermint? Spicy black pepper and licorices. Strong, but it holds the heat reall well. Has a baked fresh bread finish. Very delightful.

Tasted at Havana 1920, San Diego May 18 2024.
Appearance: light amber
Aroma: brown sugar, strawberries.
Flavor: dust, must, black pepper, caramel aged in an old woman's purse
Tasting notes: I'd serve this to a whiskey drinker, with a single ice cube, and they would decide that they liked rum. I would also drink it with an ice cube and a sprig of mint ❤️

I found a bottle of this for $6.99 and thought I'll try for that price. I drink most rum straight over ice and my first glass I thought was very good. Smooth flavor, not overpowering with sweet, smoky flavor. I bought last bottle but I'll be back to check for more. If you find this in your travels - buy it!!

Very smooth for a five-year old rum. Classy bottle too. Great for special occasions.

A real rhum agricole. A little bit spicy. A little bit bitterness. Interesting at the end.

Very thick mouthfeel, sweet and almost syrupy. Very dark in color, must have a bucket load of coloring. Easy and nice, but nothing to remember by.

Off notes. Seems either they are trying to cover up a poor product OR this is half way to a vinegar state.

This offering is simply middle of the road. Nothing outstanding... palate forward or back. I struggled to identify anything other than vanilla
I preferred the Paradise which adds cherry cask aging

Basically the rating says it all. This is not the grand reserva you are looking for. Probably better reserved for drinks. Otherwise the taste qualities are just not so well developed for enjoying neat.

Deadhead Aged review posted 14 hours ago by LUKAŽIGA Slovenia 🇸🇮 | 122 ratings
6,5:On the nose, we have a fairly simple rum with a hint of alcohol that quickly dissipates on notes of vanilla. The whole seems rather sweet, with hints of brown sugar, cooked sugar and vanilla. Nuts combine with this sweetness to evoke nougat. Then the smoky register comes in spectacularly, with roasted coffee and toasty woodiness. This woodiness then seems wetter, as if soaked in coffee, and then molasses comes into sharper focus.
Aerating the rum won't particularly alter the aromatic profile, except that it seems a little darker, blacker. The toasty woodiness now seems close to charring, as does the coffee, which is now nicely toasted.
6,5 :The attack on the palate is very light, even discreet. Roasted aromas, led by dark caramel, quickly take over the taste buds. This gives an astringent quality that once again recalls charcoal. Roasted nuts (walnut, hazelnut) add thickness before a wave of spice warms the whole mouth. After a while, when them rum is well oxidized, red fruits arise and mouthfeeling actually becomes quite pleasant.
6,0:On the finish, spices invade the entire palate, the strength of cloves and white pepper numbing the tongue just a bit, then they wane.

Eminente Reserva 7-Year review posted 15 hours ago by LUKAŽIGA Slovenia 🇸🇮 | 122 ratings
7,8:The nose opens with a light rum, both fruity-pear, pineapple, apple, passionfruit and floral, with fine woody notes. The oak provides a hint of roasting, delivering aromas of roasted, caramelized nuts. Mild spices like vanilla are enhanced by other fine spices.
Aeration takes us further into the wood fiber, with a very elegant American oak barrel. The vanilla and coconut are just right, delicately wrapped in a case of blond tobacco. The fruit has matured considerably, and is now reminiscent of mirabelle plums oozing with sugar or a sweet white wine-sauternes .
7,7:The palate is balanced from the outset, between toasty oak and marshmallow-like soft fruit. The palate is quite dry, sauternes notes linger on, even bitterness is noticed. Pepper and wood join forces on the tongue mid-palate, clove shows up. This liveliness gives way to a softer, vanilla woodiness.
7,8:The finish is roasted and delicious, fruity , with a hint of mocha.
Mount Gay XO Triple Cask review posted 18 hours ago by Jaister the Pirate Netherlands 🇳🇱 | 46 ratings
This rum reminded me a lot of the plantation 20y anniversary edition, except this one has taste! It is a bit stronger when it goes doen, has a very nice sweet smell and a warmly after burner which is pleasant (like a high quality cognac)
Would recommended it sipping this after a nice dinner.

Cane Island Panama review posted 1 day ago by Andrewofcalgary Canada 🇨🇦 | 279 ratings
A bit woody but not super smooth. Good for the price though! I usually like my Panamanian rums finished in a sherry or cognac cask but this is an everyday type rum. Cane Island has a wide selection of mid range rum Ive been working through. So this is a great way to spice up variety although it won't compete against higher end Panamanians.
Hamilton West Indies 1670 Blend review posted 1 day ago by TheJayHawk United States 🇺🇸 | 49 ratings
Aroma - peach cobbler followed by apple crisp and lime peel
Taste - sour apple followed by bitter sugar and a leather finish.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Cruzan Estate Diamond Black Strap review posted 4 hours ago by Rapid City Rich United States 🇺🇸 | 5 ratings
My first Black Strap Rum. What to do with it? Of course an illegal Dark N’ Stormy.
Raw I love the deep color and aroma. The taste is sweet with a nice finish. I was pleasantly surprised for the price.
Mixed it made for a nice relaxing drink to sip.
