I dont really know what to make of this. I had the opportunity to taste the VSOP and wasn't sure what to make of it. It's has strong afterburn and is a little spice (i quess it's the pepper notes). I was my first agricole rhum, but I didn't have the feeling that I was drinking rum, maybe it's because I'm more used to sweeter rums. I did buy the XO so there will be a 2nd try at agricole rhum.

Very nice for an Agricole, but nothing special for me. A little bit of harshness on the nose in the beginning, quite pleased by the taste, not grassy like other Agricole. A little bit of vanilla taste, you can feel all the 43 abv.

This is a very unique and interesting rum that is unlike any I've tried before.

Smells and tastes of charred oak and spice (pepper, clove, and cinnamon). Maybe a hint of black cherry. Has a nice bite at 43%abv and would pair well with a cigar.

It seems like a pretty good spirit, but I prefer a little more sweetness. This is dry, almost bourbon like.

A decent tasting rum for sure for people who prefer a bit less sweetness in their rum.

Here we go again with yet another Martiniquan rhum agricole that the cane juice too easily picks up on the wooden flavors. Since this one is a fairly young VSOP, it has less of the wood than the 10 Year Clement that I just rated. This one is also way over priced at $58 and I found it at the next liquor store for a whopping $15 cheaper. Even if I had got the cheaper priced one, this rhum is still not a good buy. It almost reminds me of Ezra Brooks 101, which is a dirt cheap Kentucky bourbon. Stick with the cheaper J M Rhums for your first try. In the end, this rhum is nothing more than an expensive mixer.

Well, it's my first agricole rhum ever, so I might be not that useful in terms of professional opinion. The flavour is good, it is sugar cane all over the nose. You can imagine the taste would follow the mood, but it is not that cheerful. Maybe some harsh notes, too much spirits, it's 43Ëš alcohol in the end of the day, so it figures. I am personally very tolerant for strong drinks, and it doesn't bother me much, but I haven't find the depth of the taste I had high hopes for. Will taste it later for sure, hope I'll get the gist of this particular liquor in the nearest future and change my mind for the better.

My personal score for this rhum agricole is about 64-65 out of 100, so I rate it 6/10 for now.

Agricole... Very different color, feel and taste then most other rums. Pale, some solid burn, a bit harsh, heavy notes of oak with smoke/char, almost peppery. The finish was brief. Overall the taste was thin and almost astringent to me.

A little over priced for this one. the spice islands come to mind with hints of pepper, nutmeg, mace, coriander. Its tasty but dont think I would invest in another bottle. Might be nice in a holiday coctail.

Un rhum intéressant avec un très bon bouquet. Très belle couleur jaune thé. Épicé et légèrement amer. Puissant et complexe. Ne vaut pas les vintages de la marque. Du vrai rhum de capitaine... à emmener dans un navire.

To be fair one of my first bottles of rhum Agricole so dont have much to compare it with. The flavor profile was smooth, woody and grassy with a hint of nutmeg and clove. The taste did not linger long. Good starting point for a bottle of its price.
