Carupano Reserva Exclusiva 12-Year

Nice smell, and sweet tasting. No added sugar, so simply just perfect

I really like Venezuelan Rums. This is no exception.

I found this at BevMo for only $29.99, so I thought I'd give it a try. First, I compared it to the $400 Carupano Legendario 25-Year, and I ever so slightly prefer this! The Carupano Legendario is more of rum purists' rum, while this has a little more flavor to it. I find it odd when I read reviews like "this tastes like a 10, but minus 3 for added spice (or sugar)". I only care about the taste, not whether they added anything, and I find this to be slightly better tasting, with a bit more spice. The Legendario does taste more premium though.

Smells and tastes of spice, molasses, and oak. Relatively simple, but a very pleasant rum to me.

Sedmičku tohto venezuelského 40% rumu som obstaral v rámci akciového setu, štandardná cena je vyššia. Matná čierna fľaša so zlatým písmom vyzerá naozaj sexi, plastový vrchnák je veľmi praktický. Vôňa je jemná a pripomína spice rumy, farba zlatohnedá. Chuťovo je stredne nasládly, pomerne jemný, cítiť výrazný karamel, kožu a drevo. Záver je stredne dlhý, po viacerých dúškoch začne byť už trochu moc štipľavý. Prvá ochutnávka ma celkom príjemne potešila, pri druhej už pozitívne dojmy opadli, predpokladám, že to bude už len horšie. Všeobecne nie som priaznivec umeliny a výrazného dochucovania, mám rád poctivé suchšie rumy. Tento drink je možno o niečo lepší ako napr. Havana 7Y, no označenie Spiced by bolo predsa len vhodnejšie ako 12Y Reserva Exclusiva. Ochutnal som aj 18-ročný a ten je kdesi úplne inde. Ak by tento stál 20€, bolo by to pohodové pitie na každý deň, za cenu nad 30€ už čakám oveľa viac. Nemám dôvod sa k nemu vracať, sklamanie.

Mixes great and makes an awesome Cuba Libre!! Great rum for the price!

I'd like to have it dry, but it's sweet. Can't find 12 y.o. aging, barrel and much taste. But it's no alcohol, round, warming, some pepper and fruits. Perfect for companies as table rum. Liked price.
