I bought this hoping to get something similar or better than the 8 years Bacardi, but this one was a disappointment. Strong alcohol taste at the beginning, ruins it for me. I rather have the 8 years for less money.

Favorite sipping rum from Bacardi. Needs to be chilled to smooth it out.

What else to say, its a descent rum. Good nose, good taste. A little pricey for the quality but still good.

A blend with the minimum age of 10 years sounded pretty good when I picked up this bottle. I tried it neat at room temperature. It has a pleasant sweet smell and a really nice golden color. I find it starts off really smooth and then grows to have a little bite as I start to swallow. The soft and tingling aftertaste is quite nice and seems to linger for quite a while. No heat or warming as it goes down. With the smooth sweet taste still present after several minutes, I feel I can keep sipping this or use it to make a great cocktail.

Decent craftsmanship. Good rum too start with and very easy to drink. Just a bit too sweet for my personal taste.

To be fair to Bacardi, I have never had any of their higher tier rums. Not allot of offerings at Ontario's provincial controlled outlets. I tried the 8 year old and it had a nice oaky flavor, but was still rather harsh compared to say Havana Club 7 or Flor de Cana 7.
To my surprise the 10 was rougher than the 8, the difference being a strong pronounced alcohol taste. Perhaps I purchased a bad bottle ?
Purchased Bacardi Reserva 10 yr ($44 CAD). I a. Not a fan of Bacardi product but thought I would try this one based on the β10 yrβ old statement. This rum is rather surprisingly smooth but also on the sweet side (which I donβt like) hence the lower score.

I have to say this is a pretty decent rum for bacardi standards! Tastes great pure, just can't think of what it tastes like. I never had this before and it still feels like i had it before..

The Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez 10 is lighter and less complex than Bacardi 8. It has a strong nose and an immediate alcohol burn but is then smooth enough to enjoy on rocks or with a little water. Also goes great with cola but so do many other less expensive rums.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I'm generally not a huge fan of Bacardi rums, which you'll know if you look at the bottom of my shelf. But I really do like their Gran Reserva Limitada, so I thought I'd try something in the middle. Purchased for only $29.99 at Total Wines & More. This rum really impressed me!
It's smooth for a 40%abv rum, and went down easy. It's a little on the sweet side, but I'm ok with that.
Smells and tastes of molasses, vanilla, oak, and light spice. Simple, but very good.
I usually rate rums about a point below their consensus rating, so me giving this an 8 is a very good complement, especially at this price!
Edit: I finally just tried the Bacardi 8 and agree with two other reviewers that the 8 is slightly better, as it has even less alcohol burn.
