...is what it says on my bottle.
The rum is quite dark and I am nearly sure it has colouring agent in there. So colour is irrelevant.
Imported to Germany by Borco (who are a very solid indicator of quality, but inexpensive spirits).
Nose and taste are the same really; so: Slightly sweet, very slightly funky, more than a hint of molasses. A bit of woody something in the background. Spices, maybe. A bit of alcoholic burn, but nothing terrible. Can be sipped, can be mixed. Nothing spectacular, but without any fault either. Very solid and much better than many rums at twice, thrice, even quadruple its price.
Not overly complex, but not even really boring.
Even the bottle looks nice.
Recommended. Try it at least once - it is inexpensive and much better than one might expect from the price.
I rate it a "5", because I like my rums even punchier and the Jamaica Dark Rum of the same name (Old Pascas Fine Old Dark Jamaica Rum) is even better. If you like lighter (not really light) dark rums, you might like this even better, a "6", maybe and "7" even.
For its price very acceptable, would go into cocktails, while for me stands neat, too. Has shades of sweetness, and vanilla, like many dark rums do, yet without exaggeration, which is right. Slight harshness can be heard around, but nothing crucial, I'd say. They didn't state Barbados on my label anymore, thus it can be blend with Jamaican, as I recall seeing noted elsewhere. Which makes think corrections to the product, and improved experience, I could only confirm now. No disappointment with Old Pascas so far, after White was understood and embraced before, more difficult than this one, which is decent rum.
OK, this rum is nothing special or something to remember, but on the price it comes (where I live is less than 6 Euro) it's much, much better that many other rums in the same or higher price range. Honestly, I'd prefer it every time before the artificial vanilla infused cheapos like Morgan and Bacardi.
This is a good rum for this price range. I didn't expected much when I bought it. I had beers expensive than this bottle of rum. I think will require a little more aroma of vanilla and/or caramel
Don't smell this one, just mix it with coke and it will be fine. If you just wan't to get drunk, go for it!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
