I had this side by side with the Angostura 1824, as they are both priced similarly (this costs just a little more).

This has more oak than the 1824, and is slightly dryer as a result, but it is still sweet.

Smells and tastes of molasses, oak, honey, and spice. Between this and the 1824, I'll give the ever so slight edge to the 1824, as I like sweeter less oaked rums.

But this is another fine rum by Angostura!

Fairly smooth, but the flavor just isn’t my favorite. Slightly on the dry side.

Really is just an average Rum. Joins my list of 7s and does not stand out from the crowd...

Nose: very smoky, similar to Angostura 1919
Palate: complex, but well balanced, smoky and fruity at the same time. Aromatic. Slightly better than the younger 1919.

Notes of butterscotch, molasses, candied plantains and vanilla. The first sip opens up to tastes of oak, toffee, banana and dried prunes. The only aroma that stays is the oak.

Kräftiger, herber Geschmack. Sehr angenehmer Abgang. Wenig Süsse.

I really don't get this! Doesn't taste like the reviews at all to me. It's like a combination of Reimonenq and Havana Club. I don't know what happened in the 15 years but it's only on the finish that I can detect oak.
The predominant smell and taste is something floral and citrus. Mostly it reminds me of Cuban rum but weird and slightly artificial like Reimonenq. If I try really hard I can get the oily notes.
As you can probably tell, I'm not impressed! With Caroni gone, is this all the Trinidadians can look forward to? Bless 'em.

J aime beaucoup ce type de rhum, il est doux, de couleur foncé, arôme et goût de chêne, au nez on sent le fruit sec et banane. Bien équilibré et finale longue.

I expected more from this. Not as smooth as it should be. But def has a premium taste to it.

A very different rum that definitely leaves you with two options - either you fall in love with the taste or you don't like it at all. I was one of the latter, I definitely think the 12-year-old is better

Quality product, complex, but the note is mine as this is less to my taste. Very cigar-y, almost overpowering, alcohol fiinish strong. A bit bold, if not harsh.
