$98CAD Dark gold color in the glass. Strong aromas of brandy greet your senses with rum standing patiently behind it. The brandy is forward on the tongue and it lingers through tasting. It battles the heat from the higher ABV of 51%. There’s a slight bit of strong rum that vies for dominance but fails in the presence of such a strong brandy flavour. I would really like to taste more rum. That being said, huge tart cherries are present and the spirit would be nothing without that strong rum flavour. Brandy on it’s own doesn’t have this amount of soul. Maybe the sweet spot was a tad less time in the brandy cask, but it’s still a very fun rum.
