This bottling of Eminente comes from Cuba and was blended in 2010 from two barrels in which Aguardiente was stored with 75% alcohol, after which it was allowed to mature tropically for 10 years. The rum was bottled with 55.5% alcohol in Cuba. This makes it the first Cuban bottling to officially be launched at cask strength. The bottling is exclusive to the 10th anniversary of Excellence Rhum in France and can only be purchased there in the shop or online. Two batches were released at the same time, each containing 330 bottles. In my opinion, the batches are so similar that I'm doing a review for both here.
The nose promises a surprise for Cuban rum. Lots of fruit, orange peel and citrus fruits. In addition, a nice woody note with vanilla and spice. The rum is very balanced, round and shows a nice freshness. Batch 1 is a bit fruitier, batch 2 is a bit more spice. On the palate, the expectation can not be completely fulfilled. Here comes the classic Spanish style. A beautiful sweetness with candied fruit and caramel. In addition, roasted aromas, hazelnut and a little smoke. The wood is noticeable. The finish shows the same aromas with a little more barrel influence and tannins. Again, Batch 2 is a bit spicier and tart.
Definitely an exciting rum with a high quality and a great nose. Could make Cuban rum more interesting if the development continues in this direction. On the palate, however, it is a bit monotonous to boring. Easy sipper with a touch of history. If you like or even collect Cuban rums, you should definitely grab this one or both.

Anschließend wurde der Rum mit 55,5% Alkohol in Cuba abgefüllt. Damit ist es die erste kubanische Abfüllung welche offiziell in Fassstärke auf den Markt kommt. Die Abfüllung ist exklusiv zum 10. Jubiläum von Excellence Rhum in Frankreich und kann nur dort im Shop oder online gekauft werden. Es wurden zwei Batches gleichzeitig veröffentlicht mit jeweils 330 Flaschen. Die Batches sind sich meiner Meinung nach aber so ähnlich das ich hier eine Review für beide mache.
Die Nase verspricht eine Überraschung für kubanischen Rum. Viel Frucht, Orangenschale und Zitrusfrüchte. Dazu eine schöne Holznote mit Vanille und Würze. Der Rum ist sehr ausgewogen, Rund und zeigt eine schöne frische. Batch 1 ist etwas fruchtiger, Batch 2 eher etwas mehr Würze. Am Gaumen kann die Erwartung nicht ganz erfüllt werden. Hie kommt doch der klassische spanische Style. Eike schöne Süße mit kandierter Frucht und Karamel. Dazu Röstaromen, Haselnuss und etwas Rauch. Das Holz ist merkbar. Der Abgang zeigt die gleichen Aromen mit etwas mehr Fasseinfluss und Tanninen. Auch hier ist Batch 2 etwas würziger und herber.
Definitiv ein spannender Rum mit einer hohen Qualität und einer tollen Nase. Könnte kubanischen Rum interessanter machen wenn die Entwicklung in die Richtung weiter geht. Am Gaumen trotzdem etwas eintönig bis langweilig. Easy sipper mit einem Hauch Geschichte. Wer kubanische Rums mag oder sogar sammelt sollte hier unbedingt zugreifen.
