Samaroli 2003 Trinidad Fernandes TDL 19-Year

Na nose nejvýraznější jack fruit, melasa, penicilin z lehka tabák a další škála tropického ovoce. V chuti zase jack fruit s penicilínem a pivem IPA. Hodně zajímavý rum. Jo a i ta mata tam je.

This bottling of Samaroli comes from Trinidad from the TDL Distillery. It was made in column style in 2003 and was allowed to mature in oak barrels for 19 years. The rum was bottled at 55% cask strength with no additives or filtration.

The rum is surprisingly reserved on the nose. Classic TDL notes are there, but deeply embedded in caramel, pastry and fruit. But there's also the smoke, tobacco, roasted flavors and that great TDL mint. The longer the rum breathes, the more clearly the mint comes through. The rum comes through nicely own on the palate. Roasted with smoke and a sweet fruit note. Plus tobacco and mint. Caramel support the sweetness. At the end it looks a bit dirty and the mint stays nice. In addition, smoke and more influence of wood with a little bit of bitterness.

A very good TDL with a nice mint note. But it also lacks a bit of power and body overall. Maybe the rum shouldn't have been diluted down to 55%. On the other hand, it is light and smooth to drink. A great rum, but there are better TDLs on the market for far less money.

Diese Abfüllung von Samaroli kommt aus Trinidad von der TDL Distillerie. Er wurde 2003 im Column Style hergestellt und durfte 19 Jahre in Eichenfässern reifen. Der Rum wurde mit 55% Fassstärke ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration abgefüllt.

In der Nase ist der Rum überraschend zurückhaltend. Klassische TDL Noten sind da, aber tief eingebunden in Karamel, Gebäck und Frucht. Aber da ist auch der Rauch, Tabak, die Röstaromen und diese tolle TDL Minze. Um so länger der Rum atmet um so deutlicher kommt die Minze durch. Am Gaumen kommt der Rum sehr gut zur Geltung. Röstig mit Rauch und einer schönen Fruchtnote. Dazu Tabak und Minze. Karamel bringt eine schöne Süße. Zum Abgang wirkt er etwas dreckig und die Minze bleibt schön stehen. Dazu Rauch und mehr Holzeinfluss mit ein wenig Bitterstoffen.

Ein sehr guter TDL mit einer schönen Minznote. Aber es fehlt auch insgesamt etwas an Kraft. Vielleicht hätte der Rum nicht auf 55% runter verdünnt werden sollen. Dafür ist er leicht und geschmeidig zu trinken. Ein toller Rum, aber es gibt bessere TDLs für weniger Geld auf dem Markt.
