Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Color: 3/5, a little dark. Nose: 7/10, strong notes of vanilla and oak. Taste: 17/20, the vanilla taste is too strong.
Do not bother with the 30 year old, for me the 25 years old is much better.
Centenario 25y was already very good level for me and 30y is even one step better. Nice aroma with molase, wood and sugarcane tomes. Very smooth taste, almost no burning. Complex body with more layers and long warm aftertaste. Only one weaker point is price. For 150 USD you would expect something "special", but this is "only" very weell heavy sweeter rum 🙂
I originally rated this an 8. However, after trying a few more times and comparing to some others, I have updated the rating.
In general, it is a good rum. It is an easy sip. It is a little too sweet on the tongue as you first taste it. It is almost syrupy in flavor. The flavor does transition into a little bit of spice from the aging process. Again a good rum, I probably would not buy again at this price.
This rum is interesting. It has an upfront woody flavor that leads in to a sweet well balanced aged rum. It’s much different than most rums but I really like it. I bought this with the Zafra 30 yr old which I love but I like this almost as much.
A realy great rum. Not as sweet as the 25 years. Balanced with a long finish and taste of tree nuts.
...guter Rum.
This is by one of the best runs I’ve had. It will spoil you drinking rum once you have this one. A little pricey, but an amazing drink.
mein lieblingsrum:) stimmt einfach alles..
er ist süss, geschmackvoll, angenehm und langanhaltender abgang, brennt nicht und kein bisschen spritig! preis stimmt absolut für ein 30jähriger rum! love it! immer einen auf reserve zuhause:)
A pleasure again and again to drink this solera rum. Year by year the same nice sweet flavours.
Fresh at start, long nice aftertaste
Perfekt for good company infront off the fireplace
This Centenario was a sweet introduction to Costa Rican Rum.
As well as the tasting it naked which I highly recommend, you should try it with a bite of sour orange and a tiny drop of unrefined cane sugar - Amazing!
Amazing stuff, better than the Centenario 25yr, but not sure the price difference justifies it.
Great bottle with a nice dark amber content. Opened, you get a nice strong aroma of caramel and the taste echoes that with hints of caramel and vanilla. The sip goes down smooth with very little school bite. That initial sweetness keeps me from eating this higher. Solid sipping rum.
Firstly sweet and little bit spicy and after there is taste of rum. You will feel it in mouth next 10 minutes.
Beautiful aromatic subtlety, we will retain the fruity aromas, caramel, honey and nutmeg spikes.
Excellent rum that I classify as sweet rum with a very intense flavor
it's very smooth and a little sweet. Perfectly blended. One of my favorites.
Smooth and silk, well if silk tasted of heaven.
Seriously, full body and full taste. Complex liquid amber
Best rum I have had until now
Enjoyed a bottle of Ron Centenario 30y while vacationing in Costa Rica. Ron Centenario 30 year old is easily available in all the local grocery stores at $110 a bottle, which is a very good value. Cardboard box is nice and sturdy. Oval bottle is very nice and high end. Deep amber color. The initial flavor is very nice and complex, but the taste turns into mild whisky like quickly. Very mild burn at the end. I can now easily see why Ron Centenario 30y has been scoring so high marks.
By chance, I discovered rum at the Boquete Blues and Jazz Festival, this year( 2018), at the night’s jam session. With the unlimited premium drink ticket I thought anejo was a term for tequila. After way too many drinks( neat) I stumbled to my room. Absolutely no hangover in the morning. I found my exclusive drink of choice!
Few months later I had the smarts to order Centenario 30 yr at Grano d’oro restaurant in Costa Rica. I was blown away. It was the most complex spirit I ever tasted. Unbelievable that 40% spirit can be this magnificent.
Since then I have tasted several premium rums. So far this tops them all. I did just come back with Centenario Real.
Great Solera style, taste is fruit and grape, leaves aroma of nuts in glass.
