Barbancourt 5 Star Reserve Especiale 8-Year Rum is agricultural, meaning it's produced from fermented sugar cane juice rather than the more typical molasses. The sugar cane juice is double distilled and aged for eight years in Limousin oak barrels.
Dupré Barbancourt created the Barbancourt rum recipe in 1862 in Haiti, where the rum is still produced today. A French national, Barbancourt incorporated traditional French methods including double-distillation in the process.

Love agricoles. Not as grassy as the agricoles from Martinique. A little more user friendly. It was hard to get for a while. Maybe because if the earthquake problem. Happy to have it available again in the Northeast US. Never occurred to me until now - I need to try this on my mai tai!
A great addition to any cabinet. Truly unique. Highly recommend.
Well quite good but the neck pour was a little disappointing.
For me it needs some time to open up - 3 months in the cellar :)
Thereafter quite impressive stuff - surprising
More of a scotch drinkers rum I would say - similar in some ways to Worthy Park Estate
Good buy below 30 EUR
Light color and easy to drink, goes well on the rocks or straight. Fantastic in a classic Mai Tai.
this sample is certainly simpler than the 15-year-old, but it is also very good. The aroma is rich and fruity. In the taste the fruits is even more, with wood and honey. As well as prunes, leather, and bitter orange. And in the end-the correct ABV! Тhe main drawback is that you can't buy it anywhere ((
Just the third sort of sugar cane based rum in my life and I'm falling in love with them.
Absolutely smooth and delicious, pretty strong, but practically without alcohol notes, a bit smoky and 100% fruity - it's Next Stop New Life in my exploration of rum world.
Enjoy!
Blends in to my tea and adds a sugary caramel flavor to it..
This was my first time trying a rhum agricole and I had seen people recommending this one online a lot. I found it for about $20 for a 750mL and thought what the heck. This will certainly be added to my rum (rhum) rotation.
I'm still trying to figure out whether I like this one or not. Maybe it's the fact that it's an agricole has me stumped but some days it seems wonderful and others not so much.
"palate is powerful, smooth, and well-balanced'"

Nose is surprisingly “molasses” like.
"Nice citrus notes, a little lime, a hint of lemon moving onto a more fruity green grapes."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

My preference is for agricoles, but the taste, for me, of Barbancourt 8 years is exactly in the middle with molasses based. It's smoother than the agricoles but the push and strength is . I think is mandatory for a perfect cabinet.
