I was very surprised to find that this is a Hampden rum (I had heard others mention that it came from Worthy Park). It is outstanding, to put it bluntly.

When you're looking to mix and create the incredible tiki drinks of old, you need something with real personality - something intense and loaded with flavor (and without all the additives and sweeteners!). You need authentic Jamaican rum.

It is truly excellent when used for classic punches and tiki drinks. Try it in a Jungle Bird, or blended with an aged Martinique for an original Maita'i.

The "Hogo" can be overwhelming for newbies, but to the experienced nose and palate, comes across as layers of over-ripe tropical fruits caramelized in dark sugar. I can pour it into a snifter and experience absolute euphoria for an hour just from smelling it. Highly recommended.

Having trouble finding it in New York City right now. Little water opens it up. One of my favorite rums.

This is another one of my favorites as I enjoy the overproof rums. This has a strong pot still taste. Not too sweet, not too stiff. I personally enjoy it with mixed drinks and especially with ginger beer. This is one of my favorites rums right now.

Open it up with a drop or two of water-outstanding!

Smith and Cross is perhaps an acquired taste...but even with a touch of coke, has a strong after taste. This would not make my rum cabinet at home.

Pot stilled brilliance, real rum bottled at 57% so needs watering in the glass and a rest before drinking but is a taste explosion. A beautiful thing on it's own or with a full bodied cigar. Not for sugary liqueur rum lovers. A real rum gem.

Has characteristics of a peaty Scotch, not nearly as strong as Foursquare single barrel. Ver complex, so keeping this in my rotation.

Ripe Banana and glances of vanilla in the beginning but you can also find: Spice, orange, dark tea, molasses sugar, this is real good Rum ! Definitely not for beginners

Banana, cedar, and dried dark fruit bum-rush the palate.
Toffee, pepper and a bit of salt on the finish.

Nothing extreme but a standout, not my favourite but it's a must try the funk and weight is above the rest, you can tell it's classically Jamaican and yet so different just from the smell.

“TIGHT! …TIGHT TIGHT!” as one Tuco Salamanca from Breaking Bad would say. Blows the barn doors right down. Bold. Nice banana esthers. Funky. Little bit of caramel, some vanilla. Tropical fruits. Boosh man, this a rum for almost any occasion for me. Just remember to take a breath mint after, you’re gonna smell boozy hahaha. Great for sipping, great in particular for cocktails. Just a wonderful little bad boy.

It's a delicious, darkly sweet, and funky but with unmistakable heat. It will take over some drinks if it's used alone.
