Weird smell. Burns all over. Not a particularly nice taste

Aroma is a bit funky, like jamaican rum. First taste is a bit sweet with honey and nuts. After comes fruity and grass tones, almost like aged agricole. Aftertaste is average long, but pleasant with vanilla and oak. Not very complex, but smooth and interesting. 6.5 points for very good price (20Eur)

Aroma: Mauricius jde ve vůni hned poznat. Sladké mandle, pražené ořechy, med, cukrkandl, míza, uhlazená vegetativnost, čerstvější dřevo, mléčné karamely. (86 b)
Chuť: Jemná, parfémová chuť s jasným vlivem sudu po bourbonu. Nasládlý. (84 b)
Body: 85/100

Was not sure if its a 5 or 6 so 6 it is as it is not so sweet. It is a bit bourbony indeed, but regretably forgetable. Nice bottle though for those who care. Based on tasting a 2cl sample.

I was happy to see a sample of New Grove, as it would be my first time trying this brand.
The color is natural, nice amber.
Moving to aroma: It's quite fresh and sweet, notes of banana and oranges are dominant, and there is also some lacquered wood.
Taste: This rum is definitely unsweetened. Dry profile, quite sharp, bitter. The New Grove tastes nothing like the aroma would suggest - notes of pepper, wood, and loads of spices, a slight rubbery taste.
Aftertaste: Warm, bitter. Notes of very dark chocolate, wood, mint, and a tiny hint of sweetness.
Summary: My expectations were perhaps a bit higher but one has to keep in mind the low price tag. For me, it's just easily forgettable, and the taste is below average.
