Diplomatico as is a true rum lovers product. This is a manly rum, no sweetness and what you get out of the barrel is what is tasted like when they took it out. No Adulteration..

These two should not be compared directly, but I did, anyway. We started with both drinks. At the first sips Hampden is more attractive due to funk fermentation. Diplomatico kicks more with ethanol. Hampden is more oily and with rich long aftertaste. Diplomatico is more fruity and a bit salty. Although Diplomatico has no age statement it feels more older then Youngster. At the end of the night my spouse has preferred diplomatico, me Hampden.

Aroma is sweet and deep with honey and fruit. Taste of whiskey and after burn of same. Boozy but not overwhelming. Taste is dry but not too dry. Very balanced and tasty. Awesome pot still.

Delicate and at the same time unobtrusively strong. I like sweeter rums, but this one - little sweet is delicious. In comparison, Diplomatico Mantuano is bitter, and very bad rum for 25 EUR, and this one for 46 EUR is an extremely good rum. Incredible difference.

Pro mne zatím nejpovedenější Diplomatico. Méně sladkosti upřednostní chuť rumu.

One of the best of Diplomatico range.
Pot still rum,47%.
Aroma and taste very well balanced.Vanilla,honey and red fruits.
After not good experience with very dry rums this one contents the amount of sugar I prefere.

The smell is quite firm and woody. At the first sip there is some complexity and woody taste. Also at first it feels like some heavy Burn Will come but the Burn is actually quite moderate. The aftertaste got some subtile sweetness. I prefer the diplomatico exclusiva reserva above this one, that is more accessible in my opinion.

This is really good rum. Make no mistake. Smooth and balanced. Subtle flavors of vanilla and sugar cane. But for $80-$90 it just costs too much. I have seen it as high as $120. Come on now. I can get rum as good or better for $50-$70.

Definitely has a whisky quality from the Pot Still. This is very nice. If this was $60 I would give it an 8, maybe even a 9.
