Beautiful dark amber color. Aroma just too much alcohol even after 20 minutes and swirling glass periodically. This is a very sweet rum with slight but absolutely tolerable burn (maybe less with ice but I prefer to drink all rums neat). It is not as complex as I would have hoped as the sweetness seems to dominate. Nonetheless, the quality does stand out but for less $$$ I will take zafra 21 year, el pasador gran reserve or Appleton 12 year tasks cask over this. Don't get me wrong, it is a really good rum but just over priced.
It is sweet and enjoyable, but nothing special in my opinion. Too much sugar, not much depth
Tasted at Laka Lono on 12/20/21. Ruby red amber color. Aroma of bananas and acetone. Huge sweetness. Caramel, banana, marshmellow. Mild palate.
UPDATE: 11/6/22. Sampled thanks to Greg. Really delicious with lots of dark fruits- raisins, plums, dates. Leather and tobacco. No burn at all. Raising my rating from 8 to 9.
It is fantastic! Absolute buy for its price!
Harmonic taste, sweetness and a little oak, some orange. Nothing too much still, a strong taste, one which you''ll remember.
The rum got some nice vanilla, woody and some sweetness in the aroma. First sip was a little firm with some subtile sweetness, a bit oak flavour and slight burn. The second sip was very smooth. In summary Its a nice accessible smooth rum with good balanced flavours.
Sadly tried this in 2022 while in Costa Rica. Was hoping for a nice sipping rum but taste is too harsh for a nice sipping rum. Mix only
Um rum de muito bom nível, engrandecido ainda mais pelo que custa. Muito equilibrado na doçura e acidez, uma delícia, difícil de não ir ao segundo copo.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
