Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.
Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

This is used for mixing invmost bars. Not good for sipping

There is not much good about this rum. Harsh mouth feel. Taste leaves a lot to be desired. Can be mixed with something strong and you will be alright.

Ok, this has a better taste than the white, but still a strong alcohol taste and hit with a little flavor. I tried it with an orange peel and ice.

This stuff would be fine for mixing daiquiris, but you're not going to sip it, and it makes a crumby rum & Coke. The flavor is more alcohol burn than anything.

Quite cheap rum, you could drink it with cola and enjoy it. It's not delicious though.

College kids rum or bar mixer. Nothing good I can say, not even rum and coke.

Far too many good, reasonably priced gold runs out there to insult your palate with this drivel.
Stay away.

Bacardi Gold was my first serious initiation into the world of rum. It is not the first rum I ever had but it's the first one I drank consistently. The friend who introduced me to Bacardi Gold told me that if I enjoyed it it would lead me to trying other, more flavorful rums.
