Relatively sweet yet burny Peruvian rum. Sadly smells like Bumbu spiced (yet better), which is perhaps the only rum I have ever vomited after drinking it (long story but basically truthful), -1 for that. If you dont know Bumbu rum, think Marama from Fiji. ___ The taste: spices, sherry, cinnamon and perhaps vanilla and/or honey. Feels half-way to "spiced rum". The packing is reasonably classy but not so fancy to regret opening. Overall a good rum but from Peruvian ones still arguably #3 only I tasted so far (both Millonario and especially Vizcaya are better choices). It is still recommendable, though. Peru, what a country for rum fans! ___ EDIT: gets better and better, easy sipper and everyone seem to like it. [7,5/10]
I like the taste of this one. Sweet taste and one of the best i have had.
Pour this one and let it rest for a while in the glass. Sometimes I even leave the glass untouched for 30 minutes! After looking at the filled glass for this 30 minutes, sit down comfortably take the glass take the first sip and let the aroma do the work in your mouth and swirling on your tongue!! toffee, caramel and vanilla and some of the best aromas!!
The aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a good while pleasing your senses.
Truly a beautiful Rum in a Beautiful bottle!!
This is right up my alley. I’ve always been a big fan of the Cartavio rums and this one just solidified that even more. Deep, rich caramel color. The nose includes caramel, vanilla, spices. The flavor is an explosion of same as above with molasses. Smooth as silk on the finish with a favorable aftertaste of molasses and spice. I’m making a point to always having a bottle of this on hand.
Yum. Smooth, chocolatey, not aggressive, lots to appreciate. Given to me by a mate who I'd helped with some legal paperwork, this was the first 'decent' rum I'd ever had. It ended up tempting me across the divide from the world of Single Malt Whiskey, and I'm now a true sipping rum convert.
Nice golden colour, beautiful bottle, very smooth with full flavour. One of my favourites.
Mahogany color in the glass.
A bit restrained on the nose. Delicate wood notes and candied fruit are accompanied by leather and medicine herbs. Caramel, chocolate and a bit of clove are muddled with the whole.
On the palate bitter-sweet with an independent character. An aromatic blend like Millonario and Arcane together. Tart medicinal herbs coated with caramel, dried fruit drizzled with almond bittersweet, chocolate with marzipan center.
A bit bumpy and bulky on the finish. Chocolate and fruit linger on the tongue with a honey sweetness for a long time, something bitter remains.
A rum that lacks something the edges and edges but still very peculiar comes along, like a Solera. For sweet drinkers and lovers of this style. -8
Should be the finale of my annual rum round, but is now set as a dessert rum after dinner.
Its quite floral and a little sickly smelling.
"There is a lot of sweet toffee and caramel on the nose. Hint of butterscotch. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
