This is a premium Panamanian rum - the pinnacle of the Abuelo brand. Centuria is a blend of rums aged up to 30 years, which was prepared for the 100th anniversary of rum production by the Varela family in Panama. The rums were aged in American white oak barrels and then bottled at 40% ABV strength.
Bottle: Luxury, put in a wooden case.
Color: Dark Amber.
Nose: Very pleasant with elements of baked fruit, caramel and wood. Citrus, tobacco and pepper are also noticeable.
Taste: Creamy and very smooth. Not as sweet as I expected, but not dry either. It is just right and goes well with the rum. You can taste caramel, dark chocolate, raisins, vanilla, stone fruits (apricots, cherries) and also burned oak and pepper.
Aftertaste: Medium-long.
Finish: A very well balanced rum in both taste and aroma. The price tag is higher, but well deserved in my opinion.

Mellow, smooth, and delicious. This is meant to be sipped neat. In my top 3 of all time to date!

Tasted at Laka Lono on 12/17/21. Ruby dark brown color. Aroma of honey, figs. Flavors of orange. Vanilla, honey sweetness. A tart finish. Mild palate. Very nice.

Jeg syntes ikke det er den bedste Panama rom jeg har smagt, men den er ok, havde dog nok forventet lidt mere.

Rum byl vyrobený při příležitosti 100. výročí tradice výroby rumů rodinou Varela. Směs rumů starých až 30 let zrála (solerou) v sudech z bílého dubu.
Rum by podle hydrometru měl být doslazován 20 - 27 g/l cukru.
Aroma: Rozinky, lehce kůže, nasládlé, skoro koňakové
Chuť: Lehce kořenité (hřebíček) a mentolové, rozinky
Dozvuk: Sušené ovoce (fíky, rozinky), sladký, středně dlouhý
Sladkost: 2/3

Top Abuelo mi nepřišlo lepší než třeba 12y o Two Oaks ani nemluvě. Pohodové pití, ale lahev za tu cenu se podle mého nevyplatí.
