Abuelo Centuria

I was about to write about the first sniff but as I am writing I cannot stop drinking it. Very smooth sipper. Oak, pepoermint, light vanilla. Not sure it is worth the amount I paid for it though. Still. Great blend. I still prefer the Abuelos that are finished in sherry casks.

Great rum. Smooth, smokey with nice vanilla and fruit tones.

Little disappointed for that price

The high end of your Dominican style sweet woody rums, has extra depth and flavor that goes beyond just the barrel notes. Though it is sweetened a little and after drinking lot of whiskies lately it bothers me a bit.

Top tier rum with a strong vanilla ice cream flavor

Was expecting more. Kind of thought I was in trouble when I opened the bottle and caught a sherry scent. I let it sit in a glass for 20 minutes hoping for the best but nope, too much of a sherry taste and burnt sugar. Too high of a price. Too sweet. Had in my wish list for a while and the anticipation of trying this rum out weighed the experience of actually trying it. I am certainly done with Abuelo as this is my second Abuelo rum and neither has been impressive.

I expected a lot from this one, because of price tag and good base lines they produce. Its really good rum, but cant compete in his price field. The wow factor was not there. It is more fruity style, compared to reserva 12y. I would purchase a shot again, if i will have that opportunity, but its dissapointment.

Very full bodied rum. Nice taste, super smooth. Just a little heavy if your drinking in warm weather.
