Got this one in a 50ml (plastic) bottle and to be honest, that is more than enough of this rum to know this is not my style. Very sweet, almost sickly sweet, nose dominated by vanilla. A little floral as well and, as with many rums from Panama, there is the sweet scent of rotting wood (in a good way actually).
On the palate it is not as sweet as the scent seems to promise but it is very sweet, even more so than the 15gpl would let you expect. Still vanilla mostly, a rather present alcohol and the floral and rotten wood notes are here as well. Not uninteresting but too sweetened for me to enjoy and not enough complexity to balance that out. Super short finish and the light burn in the end makes me suspicious about some really young rum in this bottle.
Abuelo is a fine smelling rum with some shades of raisins, chocolate and melase in the smell, but the taste id very uncomplicated, whisky-like with outstanding influence of wood.
It really taste like whisky, which is not my style, but not bad. If you like whisky, go for it.
This one does not taste bad. The thing is that i prefer my rums with a variaty of tastenotes and no added sugar... this one is just uninteresting!
Smooth coffee aroma along with fruitiness of jackfruit and fresh coconut flesh. Lightly burned butter with vanilla pod. The let down will be the sharp (nail polish) finishing on the nose towards the end.
Floral and fruity. A bowl of cereal with raisins, dried fruit and drizzle with honey. Still manage to enjoy the burned butter with vanilla but lesser compare to aroma.
Finished with honey suckle but it ended too soon.
Definitely a good choice to start the night with!
First of all, this is going to be my first rum-review, hence experienced users can classify my review a bit better :) Even though, I’ve already tasted some good stuff!
This one (Abuelo 7 años) has a quite monotonous nose which almost fully contains out of wooden aromas. In the mouth you can taste a bit of chocolate, roasted hazelnut and coffee. After swallowing there sadly just remains the spice of the alcohol in your throat…
Overall there is no such thing as an “alteration of flavour-expressions” while tasting the product.
Assez déçu par ce rhum. Trop ruff en bouche. A ne pas acheter
It had an unusual flavor that wasn't for me. I would rather have appleton estate reserve or pusser's navy for the same price.
Tento rum je v porovnaní s 12YO výrazne slabší a je hranicou od Abuela čo sa dá ešte piť. Rozhodne neoslni a radšej doporučujem doplatiť a kúpiť si staršieho brata. Fľašu by som si nekupil
Fairly priced and very pleasant.
"A very good introduction to the world of sipping rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Worth a try, but not a repeat. Not a bad product, but way unbalanced, hence overpriced.
