This is an aged rum that is excellent with Cola, but not complex enough to drink on the rocks or straight up. Sweet and woodsy. The bottle is awesome.
This rum comes in a nice fancy bottle, although I prefer to see the colour of the rum I'm buying. The rum actually has a nice golden colour, and a hint of caramel and smoke in it's smell. The minor caramel and smoke can be tasted as well, although it doesn't last long as the harsh burn kicks in. The way it warms you up, it's kinda more like a scotch than a rum (to me).
Not a smooth rum, takes some getting used to. Tried it neat, and it was too strong, but with a single ice cube to take the edge off, a much more enjoyable flavour and balance can be found. I would rate it higher if the price was more reasonable - but you gotta pay that extra cash for the fancy bottle, y'know?
I had high expectations coming into this rum. I’m a huge fan of Doorly’s 12, and think Foursquare can make great rum. It’s unmistakably Bajan rum, but not as good as Doorly’s 12. Great bottle, but I personally prefer other Bajan rums in the same price range. Although at the price this goes for, it’s certainly still worth a try.
En anelse tør, men det er forventligt med en rom fra Foursquare, som ikke er tilsat sukker. Ikke den største oplevelse, men den kan drikkes i en snæver vending. Har ikke den store dybde og kommer derfor til at virke lidt flad.
For a rum without any added sugar it's sweet enough. The color is light and so is the flavor. It's good, but nothing special about it. The bottle is pretty special.
The rum is quite controversity - the bottle looks kind of vugarly and not seriously but the inside is very reverse. The rum is very smooth, strong enough, aromatic and tasty. The taste of oak barrels is vividly sensed. All of this pleasures are cost 55$ only! Nice rum.
"Buttery, nuttiness hits me and washes over my tongue in waves. It’s magical stuff..."
"RL Seale 10-Year review by the Rum Diaries Blog"
The nose is classically Bajan.
"It leaves notes of oak, nuts and smokiness behind in the finish which is long and pleasant. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I finally got my hands on this one and it just does not taste like a rum at all. It is almost as bad as the Clement 10 year from Martinique. However, since this would be a fantastic gateway rum to introduce bourbon drinkers to rum, I give it my highest rating possible of a 6. I personally would not buy it again or rate it as a 5, but there is no point in me swaying someone away from something that they may wind up liking. Each to their own. For me, the best of the budget rums from Richard Seale is Doorly's XO. I will add that it needs to breathe in the snifter. Still in all, one never knows if they are drinking bourbon or rum. I pass on this one.
Update February 6, 2019: After giving this one time to breathe in the opened bottle, it began to taste better. So I tested it again neat against Doorly's 8 year in Glencairn glasses. I must say that it is slightly better than the Doorly's 8 Year. Give this one time and you may well learn to like it.
Update January 19, 2022: I finally got a hold of this one's older sister, the 12 year old with the blue label on the bottle. At about twice the price of this one, it is not much better. Bitterness keeps it from me rating it higher. Some would call this 12 year old as a poor man's Foursquare ECS. That is not even close. And since I had to drive 200 miles to find a bottle (along with other old favorites), I chose not to do a full review or add it to my massive spreadsheet.
