Nothing special here. Lacks deep character and robust flavour.
This rum ist very good for the price of 23€. This is a gift from Don Facundo to the world.
It reminds me of bacardi special in the distillery.
The nose is great, there are some heavy metal aromas.
The taste is also very good, it has some aromas from a younger rum (like bacardi blanco).
It's not as balanced as the Diez (10y), but I like the more intensive molasses taste.
Since 1862 Bacardi uses the La Levadura Bacardi – the oldest cultured Cuban yeast strain. Facundo found it growing in the sugarcane fields outside Santiago de Cuba.
Ocho is still made to the old recipe.
Bacardi utilizes a parallel distillation process using column distillation, and the fermented mixture is actually distilled twice. The first liquor is stronger in flavor and the second is light. After 8 years both of them are blended.
Smell: Molasses (typical Bacardi, coffee, salt), apple, caramel, some heavy aromas like (gum, stainless steel), vanilla
Taste initial: molasses, vanilla, caramel
Middle: white oak, vanilla, stainless steel and dark fruit (plum)
Finish: wood, spice, light bitterness, liquorice
Aftertaste: firmint
Sweetness: 2/5
Fruits: 1.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 3.5/5

got a bottle as a present, i was surprised it tasted quite decent straight up and was very enjoyable as a mixer
C'est un rhum pas désagréable mais qui n'a rien de spécial non plus niveau saveurs.

I wasn't expecting much from a mass produced brand like bacardi but I was happily proven wrong once I tasted this rum. Has a little bit of added sugar which I could do without but it's not excessive.
Has a nice flavour profile with vanilla, caramel, and a little bit of molasses and tobacco shining through.

ok, at first I wasn’t thrilled with this Rum, but after time it’s grown on me and I’m really liking the complexities of it. I do now taste oak, along with spices and a smooth dried fruitiness. It’s not a sweet Rum, at least not in the traditional sense. This isn’t a dessert liquor, but an after steak dinner sit down with a good cigar drinking straight rum. I’ve grown fond of this bottle and I’m really looking forward to replacing my bottle that’s down to a couple drinks left. I originally gave this a 6, but have changed it to an 8. It reminds me of Bourbon which is another love of mine. So anyone who would like a good sipper Rum at a reasonable price, this is a good choice.
It’s light, slightly floral. It’s quite a fresh nose with a lot of vanilla and light milk chocolate.
"There is a honeyed sweetness with this rum which does become a little cloying at times. That combines with a slightly bitter finish which becomes a touch over oaked."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Smooth rum with nice aroma. Comparing to Havana Club 7 years, Havana Club is stronger on taste and smoky, I prefer it more, but for the others Bacardi could be better rum.
