I think this is good rum, fair price, simple rum, not complicated - little bit sweet in taste.

Rhum que l'on m'a offert. Plutôt agréable à boire même s'il ne sort pas du lot. Un rhum que je n'aurais pas pensé acheter et qui se révèle plutôt facile à boire.

Nose: a lot of alcohol is right up front but if you get deeper into the glass there is some sweetness and butterscotch. Smell dissipates quickly.
Taste: starts of with a small burn that keeps going. Lots of spices in this one and some molasses. Coats your mouth with a pleasant sweetness. Full-bodied.
Finish: sweetness keeps lingering for a while. Ends with a slight intensifying burn while the sweetness remains.
Final: this is my go-to rum when a recipe calls for a gold Puerto Rican rum since it has better mouthfeel and more complexity than other column still rums. It is full-bodied and has a pleasant sweetness which also qualifies it to be a sipper. This is a good example of a rum that can be used for both purposes and would recommend to people that like a clean, relatively cheap and smooth rum.
Notes: added 3 drops of water. Also, I'm an inexpercienced taster so the details might be inaccurate, but it's still really enjoyable for my still-developing palate.

I enjoy Bacardi 8 reserve rums because they is is full bodied and smooth and it makes an excellent Cuba Libre. First add the ice (buy the ice melts slower -you find it at bed, bath & beyond), put the lime (green) to blend with the ice, then the Reserva 8 snd then the Coca Cola. Wonderful, we always repeat.....

Bought this for a fairly reasonable price of $29CAD. Keeping in mind this is still a Bacardi rum, it’s certainly a step up from their mixers, but not competing with other “neat-drinking” rums.
They’ve done a pleasant job of blending the apricot to start and finish the tasting notes, however the typical Bacardi spice is what sticks around in the palate. This rum pairs well with cigars, as the spicey - leatherniness overpowers that of a Cuban, allowing you to taste other notes in the cigar.
For the price, I’d recommend - but wouldn’t make my top lists.

Typical Bacardi flavor with a bit of refinery. Sweet, slightly oakey finish, mild burn at the finish. Good for higher end cocktails or if you want an "ok" sipper.

Bought this at the airport on a recommendation from the person in the shop. Lovely box but the contents of the bottle are a bit rough.

It pours deep gold in colour. Quite alcoholy in aroma. Decent brown sugar flavours. Smooth enough to drink neat but probably better as a mixing rum.
