Plantation Barbados 5-Year rum is distilled from molasses and aged 5 years in bourbon casks before being transported to France for further 'finishing' in Cognac casks.
Plantation rum is owned by the French company Cognac Ferrand, which was founded in 1989 and produces wine, gin, and other spirits to sell in over 40 countries. The Plantation range includes 7 vintages from different Caribbean countries and 3 blends of multiple regions.

I little heat on this 5yr grand reserve along with flavors of carmel, nutmeg-like spice and juicy fruit makes a nice little sipper and mixer for the price,

A cheap rum with a lot of taste. Quite sweet... but that's what I was looking for.

It's only 5years old but it already wields the typical fruity Barbados-style ,typically with a little bite in the throat.One of the best Price/value i ever tasted

Dnes si představíme další rum od Plantation, a to Grande Reserve 5y Barbados. V Karibiku zraje 5 let v sudech po bourbonu, pak se převezou do Francie, region Cognac, části zvané Grande Champagne, kde se již namíchané scelují ještě v sudech po koňaku Pierre Ferrand XO Grande Champagne.
Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: Barbados
Aroma: Ve vůni je nejzřetelnější kůže a rumové pralinky, přesněji jejich náplň. K tomu ještě lehce kakao. Vůně je taková tenčí. (83 b)
Chuť: V chuti výrazně náplň rumových pralinek, k tomu kakao a lehce snad i káva, plus špetka muškátového oříšku. Na jazyku je tenčí, dost nasládlý. (83 b)
Body: 83
Shrnutí: Tento rum jsem ochutnal během dvou týdnů hned dvaktrát. Jednou během degustačního večera s Millem v mladoboleslavské hospodě Neuberk, podruhé jsem dostal vzorek od kamaráda.
V hospodě jsem měl body v poznánkách 84b., po přechutnání doma jsem upravil na 83, ovšem je to tak mezi. Zaokrouhlil jsem dolů kvůli tenkému tělu. Ovšem s přihlédnutím k tomu, že se jedná jen o pětiletý rum, a s cenou zhruba za 500,- Kč, si myslím, že to není vůbec špatné pití. Svým pralinkovým výrazem mi částečně připomíná i středoevropské rumy, včetně našich tuzemáků, samozřejmě k tomu výrazu přidává něco navíc. Z toho důvodu by mohl být obzvlášť vhodný pro ty, kterým třeba i tuzemák chutná, jako takový spojovací článek mezi Střední Evropou a Karibikem.

For the price you can buy it blind. The reserva 2000 will have less strength but more flavor. The XO is one of my favorite by combining both strentgh and all flavors

This rhum is One of the least expensive in the Plantation family but it's very good. Finished in Cognac casks, it doesn' t have the extreme smoothness of the XO 20th anniversary, but you can find the complexity of sweet vanilla and sugarcane molasses and spices in it's taste and aromas.

Schmeckt erwachsen für sein Alter.
Leicht und unbeschwert in der Nase und Gaumen.
Im Vordergrund dominante Vanillearomen gefolgt von Karamell und Früchten.
Abgang ganz ok.
Ein Rum für alle Tage. Nicht zu süss.
Tastes great for his age.
Easy and carefree in the nose and palate.
In the foreground dominant vanilla aromas followed by caramel and fruit.
Finish quite ok.
A rum for all days. Not too sweet.
