Interesting rum

Firstly this is definitely a non aged rum , very young .
The aromas this spiced rum give off are incredible , with cinamon, cloves spices, aniseed and bannana the main taste.

When you first taste you can clearly taste the added caramel so I would be interested in a hydrometer test being done on this rum .

The aftertaste doesn't have an ether burn which is a positive and I'm confident if they aged the spirit it would compete with rumbullion and ainseed heavy spiced rums

A smooth blend of Caribbean rum and the most delicate selection of spices and flavourings. Perfect with a ginger beer!

The rum pours a deep gold, almost light brown, in colour. Aroma is sweet with vanilla and clove, with a hint of alcohol when swirled around the glass. Flavour is sweet with orange, vanilla and spices. I don't think I can distinguish the Laver seaweed out from other spiced rum that don't have it in, but I'd probably notice if it wasn't there. The rum is of a great quality to drink neat, but I'm quite partial to having it with a ginger beer too.

Sampled this spiced rum liqueur at the Penllwyn Ddu in Llandygwydd, nr Cenarth, West Wales, after talks with the barman describing my self as somewhat of an aficionado with regard to rum. A lady at the pub suggested I try the local tipple Barti Ddu - pirates juice as I was told, and juice it was a syrupy, spicy mess.

A friend that moved to the area was bought a double by a local who was slightly hesitant at me sampling it.

Nose heavy spiced young dark rum below 3 years easily. Strong cinnamon and vanilla added extracts power through on the palate with undertones of clove and mixed spice. It's syrupy and black and highly sweetened with possibility of the colour deriving from added caramel. The secret ingredient of laverbread I don't pick up and being a Welshman I find it more of novelty liqueur (especially at 37.5% it's definitely Not a sipper) than a fine rum.

I expect good things from these guys though. Aged some rums in Wales for 10-20 years and I'll see what I think.
