This rum from Panama (on the label, Barbados on the web site) at 80 proof has very little ETOH upon the nose. First sip had some spice that mellowed into nicely balanced caramel. Finished one glass and HAD to have another. This is really well made sipper.

1st sniff, a mellow aged rum smell. 1st taste smooth and very simple. The more you sip, the more the complex notes grow on your palate. Very good and reasonable price point.

A 6.5 on my scale. A solid rum with a decent oak flavor. Hard time describing it as "Perfect" though.

So smooth it almost makes me wonder if the ABV is lower than 40%. Surprisingly light on the nose for such a premium rum. Great viscous and semi-sweet mouth feel with rich cinnamon, molasses and lots of delicious honey notes.

Nice and smooth, I drink it neat. Great price point and easy to find. One of my goto home bottles! Great finish, although lighter than the XO.

I was about to restock my shelf with a Doorly’s 8 year but was persuaded to try this fine rum. I am sipping kind of person and like mature almost aged scotch tastes. This is quite mature without the strong alcohol punch. Smooth and flavorful (I leave it to others for the details). If you are looking for an excellent, not overpowering rum at a good price, give a try! You will not be disappointed.

Bottom line first, it's very similar to Kaniche XO. That's a good thing, as I find the XO to be a wonderful sipping rum, especially considering the reasonable XO price. The Perfeccion is considerably more expensive at my local store and not considerably different in taste, that's a very good thing! I did a back to back taste test and, maybe, maybe, I could almost claim that Perfeccion has a touch more of a spicy taste, maybe. However, when drinking Perfeccion alone, it seems to have a slightly different character. I like it very much and it's among my favorites, right next to, and as good as, XO.

I have really enjoyed Kaniche’ XO and is one of my favorite aged rums. Today I spent $10.00 more to try Kaniche’ Perfeccion at Total Wine. When I mixed coke with both it was hard to tell the difference. Drinking it dry (without soda), the Kaniche’ Perfeccion had an extra bite to it. Honestly, I will stay with the XO and look forward to trying other Kaniche’ Rums when they become available at Total Wine. I certainly don’t want to discourage anyone from trying Perfeccion as my taste buds maybe be off. Enjoy!!

I love rum, hands down. I have tried low rated, low price rums to over priced and high rated rums. No less than 3 bottles in the house at any given moment. I have been loving the XO version for awhile now and just came accross this at Total Wine. The aroma and finish are amazing and much better than the XO. The tastes are different so I won't compare those as I like both. Well worth the $39.99.
