Guter trockener Rum.
In der Nase fein holzig mit leichten Trockenobst Nuancen.
Im Mund viel Eiche und etwas Vanillesüsse dann ein ganz leicht würziger Anklang von Safran.

Schönes sattes Bernstein im Glas.
In der Nase kommen zuerst die klebstoffartigen Düfte an. Je länger dieser Rum atmet umso mehr öffnet Er sich. Jetzt kann man eindeutig Karamell, Holz, Harz, Gewürze und welke Blumen wahrnehmen.
Im Gaumen sehr angenehm und weich, zartes Karamell, eine hauch Vanille, ein wenig harziges Holz und Gewürze wie Pfeffer und Kardamom wuseln um die Zunge. Leider etwas flach.
Im Abgang mittellang, Karamell, Vanille und etwas Holz, leider bleibt am Schluss etwas Bitteres auf der Zunge.
Ein interessanter Rum der viel Zeit und Raum benötigt oder einen Sonnenuntergang in Levuka.

In the nose the adhesive-like scents arrive first. The longer this rum breathes, the more it opens. Now you can clearly perceive caramel, wood, resin, spices and withered flowers.
In the palate very pleasant and soft, tender caramel, a hint of vanilla, a little resinous wood and spices such as pepper and cardamom scurry around the tongue. A little flat, unfortunately.
In the finish medium long, caramel, vanilla and some wood, unfortunately at the end something bitter remains on the tongue.
An interesting rum that takes a lot of time and space or a sunset in Levuka.

Ratu is a brand of rum from Fiji, that I have had a bad experience with in the past. That time it was the liquor, also known as Ratu 8, and sadly this 5-year dark is not much better.

Nose: Treacle, caramel, oak and some fruity notes, that are hard to place
Taste: Caramel, oak, vanilla, smoke, tea with a weird almost "sweet whisky" aftertaste
Overall: This is one of those rums, that tries to please everyone and ends up pleasing none. There are some smoky notes that pleases the lovers of dry rums and whisky, but also a good dose of caramel and vanilla for the lovers of sweeters rums. It ends up in the middle of the two and that is just not good.

Čekal jsem patok a byl příjemně překvapen. Dovolím si tvrdit, že tohle bude nedochucované, krásná vůně, ale chuť suchá, raw. Není to jednoduché pití pro každého, ale za mě dobrý.

Held off rating this until I gave it another go. Was very disappointed initially , a bit better second time around but not a re - buy. Quite nice aroma , caramel , treacle then a few fruity notes. Very astringent in the mouth like a young whisky... plus a burn on the way down. Not a sipper in my book. Does make for a reasonable rum and coke but so do many other 5yr old rums. This is no better than the 2yr old version to me... on a more positive note the bottle is very nice with a good stopper instead of a screw top. Not for me...
