Dominican Republic | Aged | 40% ABV
Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.

Nothing special, as this is a 15yo reserva. Pale color, average nose, but for it's price about 25 EUR is not so bad 55%
Hmmm... it's a cognac, a good one, so the rating is irrelevant
I have consumed couble of bottles, but it is not great or remarkable. I am not likely to buy more, because of rum scandal issue and personal incompatility with the taste.
It’s ok but not worth the cost. Steer towards the 10 year if you can find it.
It’s not superb sweet. It’s not full of junk. It’s just a smooth rum that you can drink on the rocks or pair with cola, gingerale, soda water etc.
It’s good with almost anything. I appreciate this rum because you can enjoy it several different ways.
This is a dark rum with vanilla and oak flavor, and it is important in the history of the rums to drink straight, you need to have this one on your collection.
It is my first rum. It open a new great world in my taste. It tastes sweet with vanilla notes.
Smooth and very well blended.
"The aftertaste is quite spicy and hot. Not in an alcohol burn way."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Its uneventful for 15 years.
15 year rum should be a smooth sipper at this age, but its not. Very harsh upfront burn which shouldn't be existent in this age of a rum. So I highly recommend drinking it with cola (I prefer diet coke). Even in coke its only So-So the last guy said "thin" and I think that is an amazing description. Some rums are bold and have distinctive flavors.Which makes sense because even sniffing the rum from the bottle you dont get any distinct smell besides some alcohol. This is similar to appleton estate v/x rum with a different cask taste. So the choice is yours go appleton estate v/x which is 17$ a fifth or this which is around 40$ a fifth with limited availability.
Cliff Notes
-Harsh upfront burn (not a great sipper)
-No real bold flavor
-Sweet Finish
-No smell from bottle (which translates into the no flavour)
-Similar to appleton estate v/x (I think appleton estate is better however)
