Has the distinct Appleton fruity taste, but a bit astringent. Definitely needs ice if you want to sip. I loved it with coconut water and all Appletons stick out in cocktails. Like all Appleton, though, too expensive outside of the Caribbean.

My wife bought a bottle of the Reserve and the V/X for my birthday last year. I love them both. I can happily sip this to keep from finishing my 21 YO.

Think this is one of my favourite ‘middle range’ rums. Would happily sip on this but at the same time wouldnt feel bad about making a cheeky Daiquiri with it either! Standard nose of brown sugar, spice and hints of dried fruit with the smoky finish followed through by spiced fruits.

In my opinion, this is a big step up from the basic. Has a nice flavour and no harsh finish. I like the flavour imparted from the barrels.

for a few bucks more you can usually get the 12 year which is a large step up - and for substantially less you can usually get the V/X which is about on par if not better.

Been to Jamaica 3 times, they always serve Appleton and I usually bring a bottle or 2 home. It is a fine rum and makes me think of the island.
