Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

I love 7 year with coke. Makes the best cuba libre. A dry, smokiness with notes of molasses. Staple back bar product
Good for mojito's (real mojito's) very nice taste
With this rum. I gave it 8 stars because I often use it as a cocktail mixer in recipes that call for lighter rums, ie Daquiri's. It really blends well and with lime creates a great drink. Not a sipper for me but a versatile cocktail rum.
The rum which showed me that aging was something good for the spirit and opened the door to many others. Survives mixing but can also be sipped over ice
Lovely dry rum, little oaky with a short 'n' sharp taste. I'd recommend it.
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

When people come into drinking various rums, it becomes difficult to know how to compare 'quality'. HC7 is one of the few affordable rums you will find in the supermarket that actually deserves the title 'premium'.
In regards to flavour some may say it isn't 'complex', in some regards, they may be right. It is very smooth, and the flavours are delicate when drunk straight or on the rocks. Mix with cola you get rewarded with a smooth caramel rum drink. There are subtle notes of treacle, toffee, vanilla, tobacco and smokey oak, but is so smooth and blended well. Some may over look its true complexity, but that doesn't undermine the fact that this is one top quality rum.
