It's alright. Sweet, not very special. Certainly a well crafted rum, but nothing to spend hours of nosing and searching for fine or subtle aromas. Easy sipping
Apart from alcohol very closed and even after 10 minutes the scent was strong but the notes still timid if that makes any sense. Another 10 minutes later there is fudge, leather, a little spice and some oak. On the palate there is also a fruitish note and the leather remains entangled with the oak.
It is a dry(ish) rum (which I consider good) with not much complexity for a 10yo but all in all not bad though a bit harsh. Taste is gone rather quickly with a little bitter aftertaste. Most certainly drinkable but a bit expensive for what this is.
I like the strong leather-ish smell, it's the real man's rum, not sweet at all, the longer you drink it, the better it gets.
I have tried some Spanish rum now and maybe it is me, maybe I have been unlucky, maybe the rum from Spain is simply not good. I don´t know, but this is another miss in my book.
Nose: Vanilla, oak, almond, cocoa and orange peel
Taste: Vanilla, caramel, cocoa, coconut and a slight menthol feel in the short aftertaste
Overall: This rum really doesn´t hit the spot for me. It ticks all the usual boxes for a Spanish rum, but lacks focus.
Not bad .
A light rum at 40%, not intensive. The most aromas are from a multicolumn still.
I get dry fruits, paper (kind of wood aroma) and vanilla first. Some apricots are also there, it's a little bit flowery. I would prefer more complexity and intensity.
The taste is between sweet and bitter. I get the paper first, then vanilla and some tannins.
The taste turns a little bit bitter. As the rum became warm I get some honey and apricots.
The finish is a little bit spicy with vanilla, wood, tannins and some apricots.
It's not much going on here, a typical multicolumn blend. I can say that it's not very old.
And it reminds of Bermudez rum.
Smell: dry fuits, wood, paper, vanilla, apricots, flowers
Taste: paper (wood), vanilla, some tannins, some honey and apricots
Finish: spice, vanilla, wood and tannins, some apricots
Sweetness: 2/5

Riecht am Anfang stark nach Alkohol. Gibt man ihm etwas Zeit legt sich das und leichte Toffee Noten kommen zum Vorschein.
Leichte Karamell Noten und im Abgang Vanille und ein wenig Holz
In nose you can find some vanilla, toffee, oak and fruits. In mouth: caramel, oak and spices. Oaky aftertaste.
Meget svag duft af vanilje. Smagen er tør og hurtig væk. Ikke særlig dyb. Fornemmer dårlig frugt og røg. En smule sød. (18. December 2019 i 1423)

I was quite happy with the Tradicion version but this one was not as satisfying. I know the Tradicion has 12 extra years of aging on it but it isn't that the Maestro is harsh; it has an odd, bitter taste to it that I can't put my finger on.
Plus the finish is too dry and leathery; and this is coming from a guy who likes dry rums.
