Not just a mix-rum, also a good sipper, not too sweet and smoother than the regular! Good rum for the price.

I’m not sure what the difference is between this and the regular version. It’s a bit smoother and sweeter but with some complexity lost. The regular is better

I find the Barcelo Imperial (less expensive by $10 at least here in Ont. Can.) to be better. I found the "Onyx" rum rather heavier on the palette than I prefer. The bottle looks sharp though and I won't hesitate to buy it again.

Interesting find at the same price of regular imperial. More complete perhaps and full bodied. Strong burnt. Not my favorite but still good to sip

Full body taste, sweet. Flavour of vanilla, oak and raisins. Good to have on the shelf. Should be a Standard.

I can not understand why this is not more popular..
Much milder than normal Barcelo imperial and tasteful.
On the palate, butterly honey, caramel and some vanilla.
It is defferent from "premium blend 30 aniversary" but this is amazing one.

Made up of a blend of rums aged for 10 years in heavily charred bourbon casks, this expression was filtered through onyx stones (hence the name) prior to bottling. Each production stage makes for a rich and complex rum."
If you like the regular Ron Barcelo, you should give this a try. I supposed it is very similar to the regular one, but much deeper flavours and sweeter, absolutely delicious to sip.
One word of warning, as glamorous as the Black bottle is, it is an absolute nightmare to pour from, spillage every single time, so bad that I had to decant it into another bottle. I might have given it a 9 if not for this problem.

Strahlendes helles Mahagoni mit Kupferreflektionen im Glas.
In der Nase dunkel und tief. Am Grund liegt dunkles Holz mit Karamell-Toffee Bonbons obendrauf. Als Topping gibt's Kakao und herbe Gewürze, sehr mehrdimensional.
Im Gaumen sehr mild und weich, dezentes Karamell im Schokomantel, Sahne-Toffee-Vanille Creme, kandierte tropische Früchte liegen in einer getoasteten Holzschale. Könnte etwas mehr Körper haben, vielleicht liegts am geringen Vol.% ?
Im Abgang sehr gehaltvoll und lang, Karamell, Toffee, Gewürze.
Ein gut ausbalancierter Ron und nicht so süss wie andere Ron aus der Dominikanischen Republik. Für Einsteiger und Geniesser.
Bright mahogany with copper reflections in the glass.
In the nose dark and deep. At the bottom dark wood with caramel toffee sweets on top. The topping is cocoa and tart spices, very multidimensional.
On the palate very mild and soft, discreet caramel in chocolate coating, cream toffee vanilla cream, candied tropical fruits lie in a toasted wooden bowl.Could have a little more body, maybe it's the low vol.%?
In the finish very full-bodied and long, caramel, toffee, spices.
A well balanced Ron and not as sweet as other Ron from the Dominican Republic. For beginners and connoisseurs.
