A simple smooth swirl of the glass is all it takes to reveal the character of this fine rum.
Very good rum! Smooth, great taste - with or without mix - and will buy again. Glad I tried it.
Nice bottle, aroma, good&stronger taste, mahagon color.
Nemal som ocakavanie od tohto ruma, aj ked flaska zaujala na prvy pohlad. Prekvapenie sa ukryvalo aj vo vnutri.
Very nice rum with lovely scents and a flavor that's typical of a dark aged rum but has a lovely strong aftertaste of something that resembles raisins and roasted caramelized walnuts. It's mostly likely not going to be for everyone but I definitely enjoy it. It's also relatively smooth and easy to drink (I prefer to sip my rums neat). Definitely worth a try.
It is 40%ABV solera aged for 10-15 years in American oak barrels. This should be Relicario's top of the range.
Bottle: Very nice thick glass, square, closed with a wooden screw cap. It comes in a nice tube.
Colour: Dark amber.
Aroma: It is sweet, caramel. There is also vanilla, coconut, sherry, raisins and a wooden white wine barrel.
Taste: Typical of Dominican rums. It is sweetish with some burning on the palate. Vanilla, raisins, caramel, wood and smoke can be detected in the taste.
Finish: Medium.
Conclusion: Quite good, but not an exceptional rum in terms of taste. It is similar in taste to the rums from Oliver or it remained me Dos Maderas 5+5 a little.
Rating: 7/10
I was excited when I first picked this one up. The large container with the solid wood lid was impressive, as was the bottle with wood cap and deep reddish brown hue. The taste was fruity and sweet, reminding me most of cherry to cherry cream. There was a bit of toffee and caramel, and a woodiness as well. Tried with an ice cube kind of washed out the sweetness. Not as wonderful as the presentation suggested but still and overall tasty rum.
Definitely one of the good Dominica rums, medium sweet. What i didn't really like was the slightly increased alcohol burn, a little too much for my taste.
Darkish mahogany in color. Lots of vanilla, dried fruits and oak. On palate it gives quite sweet notes of smoky dry fruits, cigar, leather. Very nice spicy alcohol vapors linger for long time. Overall fullbodied, full of flavor, full experience.
Relicario is a nice, smooth, uncomplicated Dominican rum that sits similar to Kirk & Sweeney in general character, and around the price point of the 18 year expression of that blender. It has a similarly gentle, light citrus and floral noise.
Upon sipping however (this is smooth enough that I recommend it neat unless you want to cut the sweetness), it's a bit different. This is sweetened to a greater extent than K&S, and I wouldn't blame purists who dislike the practice if it turned them off. For my money however, this is a delightful desserty sipper that I like to let linger on my tongue for a time before swallowing.
It is certainly not a complex creation, but it is reasonably aged and reasonably priced. It is also contained in a very attractive bottle to boot. Certainly a re-purchase for me.

Very smooth, well balanced, the sort of rum you can drink the whole night
