Flor de Caña 12-Year

Taking a second go at this bottle last night and I think I overlooked some of the flavors in this rum. This rum dances in you mouth with flavors only to follow with an unexpected slap in the face with a dark explosive finish. The flavors flow through your mouth with a rich vanilla and as this vanilla flavor vanishes you get a burst of these undertones of oak. The finish of the bottle was my favorite part, a strong stiff finish with a lot of complex flavors that I cannot wait to further explore. This rum drank like a well oiled machine and I strongly encourage everyone that disliked this rum to go back and take a second take. Original Review "Flor de Cana 12 year is golden amber in color. This 12 year rum has undertones of a whisky or bourbon flavor from the barrels the rum was aged in. This 12 year tastes young in the mouth. Flor de Cana has hints of vanilla and sugar, but because this rum was aged in bourbon barrels the flavor is overwhelmed by the taste of the barrel."

I've got this rum in a gift 2016. Light color. Fresch taste, round taste and not that sweet but very good.

Slowly been working my way through my bottle. It has a gorgeous amber hue and amazing flavor. First sip always washes over me with a calm. Slight spice to it, almost a black paper spice. Medium heat that warms its way through you. Nice length to the finish. I prefer mine neat.

One word.... SMOOTH. This starts off smelling of molasses, vanilla, coconut and apricot. The taste lives up to the smell and has a very nice finish due to being aged in oak casks. Great stuff neat or with 1 cube.

A smooth, enjoyable rum with a definite hint of coconut. So much so that this is reminiscent of a good Sri Lankan Arrack

Realy good taste. You should try it. Don't suit everyone but I like it.

I like this rum and it's natural complexity. The flavor can at times have a lot of similarities with good bourbons. A little short of the finish in a way that makes me think it's not aged quite as long as stated, but it's still really smooth and complex nonetheless. Unique tobacco aromas and flavors are apparent and think it offers a great value at it's price point.

This rum is a great rum from the minute i opened it. Carmel in coller and tast. I will be adding to this as i tast more.

I've never been a huge fan of Flor de Caña rums but I got this as a gift, and I'm VERY surprised of HOW good it is. Very soft flavor, not so sweet, with soft woody notes.
