Flor de Cana are interesting rums in the fact they get worse the older they are. The extra dry is amazing for a white rum being super smooth and well bodied. Now something interesting happens as flor ages. It becomes harsher and more abusive to your pallet. Why or how I don't know but this rum isn't that good. There is nothing really eventful about it. Straight it shows to be just another one of those super dry oakey earthy rums that scolds your tongue with heat. In diet coke it is pretty good, it's not a bad rum per say it's just well not worth the price. If you enjoy this taste try Kirk and Sweeney, Mount Gay or any of the Ron Abuelo's. Those share similar tastes but exceed fdc-18. So final verdict is flor de Cana bad? No not really, but it's kind of generic earthy taste with a high price tag so if you're in the market for something exotic and different tasting this isn't your bottle.

Great flavor, texture, and would recommend to people getting started in the aged rum world.

This has to be one of the best things to ever come out of Nicaragua. Flower of the Sugar Cane, indeed. It's rich, fruity, and aged long enough to be really smooth. Its great on it's own or in a mix. It's an awesome go-to rum. I find that the 12 and 18 are pretty interchangeable in mixed drinks and close when straight.

Put in a couple ice cubes and it is easy to drink, balanced, has enough sweetness. People who have not had sipping rums, this is a pretty good one.

I’d like to have a side by side of this with the 12, which I haven’t had in awhile I suspect they’d be similar but the 18 fuller bodied and a tad more complex. All in all an excellent sipping Rum.

The Aroma is not overpowering, like light carmel. Definitely getting the spice on this one, and I’m digging the natural sweetness. Fades away nice and slow on the finish. Wouldn’t be embarrassed to put this into a tastings event.

Very smooth, lighter rum with a fruity aftertaste.

It’s good. Clean, smooth, and straightforward. But I felt pretty much the same about their 12 year, and I’m not sure this is much better. The 12 seems like a better value.

This was a good rum, but I prefer the 12 Year. If they were the same price, I might switch between them, since the 12 Year has more of a Sweet Vanilla, flavor, whereas this is more Bold, but that isn’t the case. I’ll stick with the 12 Year.

Aroma is dried fruit and vanilla, taste is more of the same but with burnt sugar and big alcohol burn making it taste stronger. Aftertaste is surprisingly subdued though burnt toffee lingers a while

Butterscotch Rum .. very smooth
Need to rest for some minutes before sipping
Dried citric fruits in the nose than oak and leather
Medium to short finish
Very good and elegant Rum
