A sugar-free 18-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed neat or on a rock, with a peel of orange.

This rum does not taste refined enough to be an 18year rum, not saying that its unpleasant, just don't be fooled by the number on the bottle
Nicaragua. I just didn't like this rum. I get a really strong banana/ester flavor for it that I find off-putting.
I was very disappointed with this rum because it tastes very bitter.
I think I will empty it in the WC
Actually, this 18 year old Flor de Cana is a bit harsher than it's 7 year old younger brother. Why pay a little more than double? Just to get a pretty bottle?
Update one month later: I have tried like hell to like this as a sipping rum, but even letting it breathe in the snifter or the bottle does little to improve the flavors other than to remove the alcohol burn. Save your money and get the best from the Central American Caribbean with Flor De Cana 7.
Update March 9, 2018: Adding ice cubes does nothing to improve this horrible rum. Don't be fooled by the otherwise high ratings. This rum is really crap! Sorry, but I always tell it like it is! I have just lowered my rating from a 6 to a 4. Flor de Cana needs to quit while they are ahead at 7 Anos. Only one other premium rum showed an epic fail for me, which was Mount Gay XO that tumbled from a rating of 8 to a 3.
Update November 10, 2021: Because of my bad experience with this rum, I have held off in buying their 25 Year rum for $145 until today. I also bought two other premium rums in the $100 to $150 US price range to try and find something better than my top ranked rum of Foursquare ECS Shibboleth. I was not expecting any higher rating than a 7 for the FDC 25 Year. However, to my surprise, it scored a perfect 10 and is now my all time top ranked rum that is also fairly easily replaced. I was once told my a salesman that the 18 year and 25 year are two totally different rums, but I had ignored him thinking that it was just a sales pitch. How wrong I was!
Not to my taste at all. It didn't go down too smoothly on it's own, which is a shame because at about 40-50 dollars a pop I wouldn't want to mix it. Had it open for several months now but find it hard to enjoy it. Very disappointing after such high praise and glowing reviews. I guess different strokes and all that..
Was very much looking forward to this one from having read some of the other reviews but sadly a very disappointed experience.
The aroma is very nice and that's where all the niceties ends for me. The initial tastes gets quickly overwhelmed by the heavy oak and bitterness. Trying to stick with it and left it to breath for a month or so but still the oak tannen is drowning all the other flavours. I like a good dry rum but this is just in a different league and not in a good way.
It's like it's been left too long to mature in the barrel shifting the whole balance of flavour to a disappointing level.
Quick...where is the Coke
Toffee, Caramel, Dark Chocolate, hazlenuts and a little touch of tobacco give a sweet but not overly cloying nose.
"It’s not overly sweet and retains a dryness which is particularly good on the finish."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For an aged rum, it still remains a bit of the hay taste of typical agricultural rums. Not to my liking. The bottle is classy.
