Austrian Empire Reserva 1863

I bought this rum at a rum tasting, where I was very surprised. Its roundness and sweetness is spot on, its aftertaste is not as long, as one could wish for with this rum. It can be recommended to sit and sip an evening, but be carefull, it will be gone all to fast. :)

Aged in American and French oak barrels, this contemporary gem is an elegant medium-bodied Barbados Rum, voluptuous and exquisite with an exceptional bouquet. Its dense mahogany color is magnificent and its aromas are intense and complex. On the palate light and sweet, and in the aftertaste persistent. Requires only one word: Fantastic.

Color: Dense mahogany color.
Nose: Molasses, honey, caramel, cocoa and nuts.
Palate: light sweet.
Finish: Finished with a creamy vanilla. Long lasting taste.
Proof: 40% vol.

tmavy a prijemny rum. Zase mi prislo, ze na tom, koupit na Barbadosu noname rum a trochu si s tim pohrat neni vubec spatny napad.

Ein echter Preis-Leistungs-Knaller. Ja, klar ist mit Zuckerkoleur künstlich gealtert aber er schmeckt echt gut. Ausgewogene Süsse, netter Würzanteil verblüffend Mild für so einen "Billigrum" *g* Ein Rum mit dem man gut auch mal den Abend verbingen und guten Gewissens (gegenüber dem Bankkonto) mal mit Freunden sie komplette Flasche leeren kann, aber auch für das genussvolle Glas am Abend eines stresigen Tages keine schlechte Wahl. Klar gibt es viel bessere Rums aber nicht für den Preis. Ausserdem sieht das Etikett sehr schön aus *g*

Těžko říci, do jaké míry je v tom nějaký genetický c. k. rakouský archetyp, ale tohle je pro mě naprosto dokonalý námořnický rum. Sladký jako cumel (= tekutý chléb) a neobyčejně dobrý (takovým tím prvoplánovým způsobem, jako švestkové knedlíky s mákem). Na poprvé mi připadala skoro lepší než British Navy Pusser's 54,5%, který jsem doposud za ideální ztělesnění námořnického rumu pokládal.
Druhá láhev mě už ale tolik nenadchla - k správnému požitku je asi třeba mít zrovna c. k. mariňácký rozmar...

Nothing special, the rum is light, sweet and with a taste of oranges (especially when nosing).

Pro mne naprosto překvapující rum. 40% (voltů) je hodně znát. Slaďoučký je pro mne tak akorát, ale po chvilce se dostaví hořkost. Chuť je naprostá bomba, které vám vybouchne hned po prvním doušku. Každopádně být námořníkem, tak tohle piji pořád a s velkou radostí.

I didnt expect anything and bought it - i never regret it. It tastes good. A little keen outflow. Even if its called austrian its from the UK! Cant do anything wrong if you add it to your collection.

Bottle of Austrian Empire Reserva 1863 is a kind of golden standard for me, the same as Diplomatico RE. It's a bottle, which I am buying whenever the current one is out. This is definitely the best choice in price/value ratio ! If you like sweet and smooth rums, you are on the right address.

It has something very specific in smell, which makes it different from all rums I've tried until now.
I have also 18y version, which is in taste&smell very close to reserva, but less sweet. So go for reserva and you will also spare some money ! :)
