Smooth caramel and molasses aroma, sweetness and alcohol. Hints of smoky character. Sweetness upfront but dries through the middle and in the finish. Warming alcohol as well but not harsh or medicinal. Nice warmth and light fruity character as well as a bit of smoky character. Molasses and toffee. Nice medium body, warming and smooth. This is a nice surprise for an 8 year. According to some sources about 8 g/l of added sugar so nowhere near the 12 year. Nice rum flavor. Easy sipper and will be nice in cocktails. Good value in my book. If you don't like it bone dry or overly sweet this is a good choice. A solid 7+ in my book.

About as sweet as I can manage it. Any sweeter and it would be off my scale. Also love the 5-year old version.

This one is great. Allmost good as 12 years old but much more cheaper. Good competition to Appleton Estate 8 years old.

Sweet molasses taste with background of wood. Good body. Evaluated neat but will likely survive ice or cola.

Lovely drink at an affordable price. Not going to compete with the expensive sippers but for £20-£25 I think you will struggle to beat it.

It tastes good. I feel the aroma of walnut. I´m already looking forward to its 12y-old brother.

For a rum aged 8 years it's still got a lot of heat from the spirit. It's reasonably tasty though. Apparently the 12 year old should be much better. So let's move on to that one.

Great rum. I stored it on it's side and much of it leaked out, but only because I'm an idiot.

This rum offers a value entry into el Dorado but is nothing special. It tastes like it sounds it entry level sipper at best but is too young in profile to compare to its better aged counterparts.

smooth rum but missing a lot of flavour or finish and not a ton of body

Have not tried the full lineup of ED but I like this one. Flavor is rich, similar to a Jamaican but less pungent with a subtle smoky flavor, somewhat whisky like. It's definitely a keeper.
