El Dorado 21-Year

Nose is wood and vinuous with a hint of tobacco. Hint of spice. Taste is smooth toffee, caramel banananananas, stewed fruit, little warmth on the sides of the tongue. aftertaste kinda abrupt but with a lingering warmth

Nekem ez már túl száraz, jérge öntve még durvább. Aki a száraz rumokat szereti, annak nagyon ajánlom!

In a good way. I was afraid they ruined it with too much sugar, but they did not and it is a pleasant sipper. Not worth the price maybe, but can't deny this one an 8.

The 21 seems to have a heavier taste than the 15 and is a little more complex but for me the sweetness is not doing it any favors as I think it takes away from what could be a truly fantastic rum. I like it but I sure am glad I did not spend the $$$$ on a bottle and instead had a large glass at the KB Pub in Longyearbyen, Norway. Sorry for poor photo but the pub is fashioned after a coal mine and is quite dark. On top of that I had a few rums so that might not have helped either

It's a bit sharper then my usual preferred rum. The smell is a bit harsh with alcohol, wood and citrus, some vanilla.

The first sipp is also a bit harsh with a slight burn down the throat. Tastes a bit oaky with some smoke.

A bit disappointing, at this price I would expect something more exciting.

Definitely a nice supper. This rum starts off with a very appealing nose. Definite oakey, caramel and vanilla. The sharp aroma of alcohol is not immediately evident. It edges on a bit of sweet, with a very nice smooth mouth feel. Swirling in the gums after a few sips does bring the pleasant gum and cheek tingling/numbness. The alcohol is very sharp after the swallow

I was really looking forward to finding a bottle and trying this rum. As it turns out, the anticipation was better than the experience. I much prefer the 15yr version.

Together with the Appleton Estate 21y my priciest rum purchase thus far, but worth every penny. Very rich and complex in taste - so much to discover. A fantastic sipper for special occasions. But I must admit, I liked the Appleton 21y a little better.

Boy did I feel like I overpaid for this. Just was not a pleasant experience for the price. Ended up mixing just to finish the bottle.
