Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

The smell is fruity and alcoholic...last goes away a bit after letting it breathe...but still sensable...

The taste is good with a burn at the end...the taste sticks a while around...

I tried after the 12 year old the older brother, the elderly dorado 15. Did not like it too much...it kinda stinks compared to the 12. I am surprised as well that they differ so much from each other...the taste is Ok from the 15, but the smell and taste is in my opinion way better with the younger 12.

I give the 12 a solid 7...but there are better rums out there...for example the Plantation 20th Anniversary...from the price range closer to the 15. In the same price range of the 12 ist the Ron Barco de Vargas which tastes better than the 12.

I will keep the 12 in my bar stock though.

Cadeautje voor onze spelletjesenrumavondvriend, aangeraden door de slijter. Lekker zoet, fruitig en kruidig. Weer een aanrader erbij!

Highly underrated. Maybe one of the wet runs for the price point. Especially $50 and under bottles. While the 15 year is excellent, save the $20 and get the 12.

Slavná, skvělá, přesvědčivá a sladká brána do světa rumů.
Kdo slušný rum nikdy nepil, bude překvapen, ohromen a nejspíše i lapen.

This is my go to whenever I am settling in for a relaxing evening. The nose on this one is very smooth with a nice finish on the back of the palate. Savor every taste!

At least my country, this 12year is actually cheap and can deliver a lot for the price.
Fruity, but not so overly sweet as some others.

right off the bat, you get a very oaky aroma with fruitiness and spice. it’s very mellow and went down real smooth for me. you can easily sip on the rocks , but also mixes greatly with cola, you can still taste the flavor heavily in it!

Nice to have this with some ice and let it rest a while. I prefer sweeter liquors, but i think this is better than Zacapa 23
