Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I can smell hints of vanilla and raisins above my glass and also another minor flavour I am not able to identify quite clearly. The taste is very smooth and offers balance between oaky impression of aged rum and somewhat fresher note reminding me of Saint James Royal Ambre or other solid younger rums, but I am not saying it is an agricole. Quite sweet but nothing drastic, finish is warm and quite long, there is just ever so slight alcohol aftertaste which appeared like once, other than that perfect experience. Haven't even considered the price yet.
Btw this is incredible for Cuba libre as the cocktail smells like honeybees wax in a pleasant manner :D

Very nice but if you've tried the 15 year you can get a real application for what that extra 3 years does for the quality.

A wonderful blend of sweet, burn, and wood flavors. This is a rum to measure others by.

Well refined making it great for consuming straight up or on the rocks. Aromatic and fruity.

all the usual bull for the tasting note, hints of this, tones of that, cool if you not so flush to buy the 21 (which is over priced) really nice in a mix, maple syrup, good cider, and ice...can be be sipped or poured over rocks, maybe el dorado should make this in to a solera....yeah, it deserves more than a couple of shots....(the 8 is better!)

This is one of the nicest rums you can get - at £30 it's a bargain.
Price is not indicative of quality and this rum from this small island proves it.
If you use this in a punch, like my sister did, you need a stern talking too.
Smooth, lots of flavour and no head freeze hit - brilliant!
