Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

From the bottle to the taste, this rum is fantastic. Really well rounded flavor with only a small hint of sweetness. It's not to expensive either so great value for money. This is one of my favorite in my collection.

It's very intelligent on the nose, well balanced on palate. Best for me at this moment

Like others have said it does have added sugar but imo that doesnt impacts that much the smooth and very flavorful taste. Everyone should try this rum at least once.

This rum has me forever. First tried and fell in love straight away. Since then I have been hooked. Semi sweet but complex and sophisticated taste with an elaborate aftertastes brings out the most of this delicious and amazing rum. Best enjoyed with fire and good book or good company. Sipping at its best and finest

I was gifted a bottle of this by my girlfriend upon recommendation by some people over here on this site.
I can say that, it is the most peculiar Rum. On the nose there is a strong scent of sweetness, dried fruits and caramel, almost honey-like, on the palate I sensed dried fruits like raisins, caramel, orange. Among the Rums that I've tasted, this has the most definite undertones of them all. It is pleasantly sweet but not at all annoying, I say on the same page of the Diplomatico but with a stronger character. I felt it to be stronger than Diplomatico although the alcohol % is quite the same; the burn is minimal.
Definitely recommended for the price/quality ratio. The bottle is nice, too.

This is a great rum! I like the El Dorado rums.
This one is one of the best rums you can get for the cost. So much sweetnes an flavour. Much fruit in the taste. Makes you want more. Better than the 15 year IMHO

This was my first exposure to Guyanese Rums several years ago and is always in the drinks cabinet.

Don't just read reviews, go and buy it. I've been lucky to sample and purchase the 12, 15 and 21 year old El Dorado Rums, and do them justice, drink neat, no mixers, ice if you like, but nothing else.
I'm still to try the 25yr old (but thats quite big money) but the 12yr old is excellent value, just won Gold Medal at the first ever Caribbean Rum Awards "Guyana’s El Dorado 12 took home the crown as the Best Rum"
Make fantastic 'Freddie G' (Guyanese rum, Ginger Ale (Fever Tree is best) lots of ice and lime slice and squeezed fresh lime juice) fantastic in the summer for a relaxing long drink with good company and friends.

Exceptional flavor profile for me (good oak/sweet balance) and plenty smooth with just enough bite to remind me it is rum.

I have tried the 15 year as well and love it, but find it hard to justify the increase in cost to get to the 15. When first getting into tasting rum, I would routinely use the 12 as a benchmark and really appreciate the quality for the price point (~$35). It has recently become available in my area and it is time for me to revisit this classic.

Molasses, vanilla notes, dark chocolate, oak. Very easy to put down, great for a beginner or someone who has a sweet tooth
