I enjoy the vanilla profile with bumbu. My favorite way to drink bumbu is in an old fashioned cocktail. Very enjoyable!
Think this is one of the better rums I have tasted so far. I'm loving the sweetness in the taste and you actually taste the vanilla when you drink it. On the other side I like to have some other rums on the side to balance the sweetness.
XO was more harsh, needed ice. Original was smooth, very vanilla heavy.
This is the rum that got me into rum. I had only had kraken before this but the tropical flavours got me. My pallet has changed since I first had this, about 7 years ago and I prefer less spice now but still love a double of this every few weeks. A must in the cabinet.
Share "Mic" post, which I exactly agree.
This crap is overpriced and overloaded with an unnatural sweetness. There is strong smell of alcohol, vanilla extract, and banana laffy taffy as you lift your glass to take a sip. The body is weak and sugary with a finish that is chemical tasting sprinkled with peppered bananas. This stuff is only good for maybe making mixed party drinks. I can definitely see a bad hangover from over indulging in this one due to the high sugar content. Traditional rum drinkers this is a pass. There are A TON of better rums out there for $30+ that I paid for this one like appletons 12 year rare blend.
I love this rum.
Pricey, but so easy to drink
Toffee apple π flavours.
Lovely and cool bottle
I read some initial reviews of this rum and it's XO counterpart by noted mixologists and was intrigued. Some things are better left that way. While visiting a friend on the other side of the states, I decided to make the purchase as no other rums were available at the store that I thought would work as a good mixer and a sipper too. Upon opening it for an initial sip to evaluate its profile and best use, I sadly realized the hype surrounding this rum was of completely overblown and the product was more an expression of added sugar and chemistry more than anything else. My guests I was mixing and were drinking with me, thought it in a better light than me. For me it was one and done and I was happy to leave the bootleg with my friends. Definitely not a sipper. I found using it in a frozen Pina Colada was partially successful, but only when paired with a strong floater to counter the sugar.
The nose smells very sweet. Llashings of caramel and toffee.
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I tried this once. It's watery and sweet. The fact it's bottled at 35% to save on taxes yet costs as much as a premium blend. For me is good.
