Tried this after trying other Dzama rums. Pretty strong vanilla to the nose, then fruit almost like a spiced rum, but at 80 proof. Not over powering at all. Nice mixer.
This rum is produced in Madagascar then aged in ex-Chivas Regal Casks for 1 year. Both American and Spanish oak is used in Chivas Regal casks. The rum is a little dark given just one year of aging. The flavors are woody, Citrus, brown sugar, and vanilla. The vanilla to me is a bit strong even though faint given its one year in oak. The rum is true to the spirit and has an intensely spicy entry before the other flavors kick in. The rum is mostly smooth but has some edges. Long finish, light sweetness and vanilla on fade. Decent for straight up I took mine in all neat, but probably too strong and rough for many to do this.
Nice first sip flavor, like the vanilla but could be a tad less, not to sweet, very good, I think I'll have another
Hits you with vanilla but finishes with fruit and orange. A little hint of maple and molasses make this rum delicious. I was hesitant at first, thinking I couldnt stomach more than one but turns out it is a refreshing change and could finish a few.
:-)
Had just a 5 cl sample of this rum that I’ve got from the RR Tasting Club.
The included distillates comes from two distilleries in Madagascar.
The rum is produced from sugar cane juice from locally grown sugar cane.
Before bottled it’s aged for two years in former Scotch Whisky oak barrels.
In nose it’s quite soft and pleasant and I recognize vanilla, spices and notes of cardamom.
In mouth palate and during the medium long finish it’s smooth, sweet, spicy, fruity with a touch of oak and then of course the vanilla that dominates.
Overall I must say that it’s quite good for being so young, but it could have been even better with a little less vanilla taste and a little bit higher ABV.
For those who love vanilla taste I can really recommend it.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Pour le coup, malgré une vanille très présente, il reste assez agréable et a sa place dans une cave qui se veut variée.
