Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Good to start the collection. Not a top rhum. Best to mix with cola.

Horrendous as a sipping rum (for me at least). Way way too sweet. There are interesting flavors in there but the sugar drowns it out for me.
Good for cocktails only.
If you like very sweet rums than this is for you, not much else

My the first from cherry cask. Not for me, little more leather, smoked wood and oil in taste and with negative typical "medical/chemical" aroma -> means max 5 rating ... It is not sweet at all.
Sweetness -> 3/10
Strength -> 6.5/10

This taste nothing like rum to me. I'm not a wine fan and this tastes like a Merlot to me.
Dont get me wrong; I like variance in my rums but this one is just not one for my tastebud.
I had to reach for my 1919 just to get that taste out of my mouth.

There is just something about this rum that doesn’t work for me. I have had it open for many years and even when tasted blind, I just don’t care for it.

Oft wird dieser Rum für Einsteiger empfohlen. Leider ist er mir trotz seiner Süße zu trocken, "scharf" und würzig.

Flot mørk farve, sød duft, og allerede her trænger sherryen igennem. Også megen sødme i smagen, lidt noter af rosin, dadler, men ellers er sherryen meget gennemtrængende.
