I like the bottle and the concept of the rum but unfortunately it does not work out too well. Spicy but not in a good way.
As it is labeled, sherry flavors come on early and strongly but the flavor is not quite balanced. It comes across as a mineral taste that was not quite desirable, especially at the end. The price and value of the rum did not match.
Bottle: Attractive looking bottle on the shelf, stands out.
Color: Light yellow brown.
Bottle Smell: More rum than sherry.
Glass: Changes, more sherry than rum.
Taste: Slightly sweet with an immediate overtone of sherry, the rum slowly comes through but there is a taste that follows the entire experience that is not entirely pleasant. Finishes well in the throat as the mineral taste dissipates.
I prefer the 5+5 to this rum and while this may seem obvious, I would not purchase the 5+3 again. The sherry flavor is too strong and the rum too distant.
Oh ja. Bei Weihnachtseinkäufen habe ich diesen Rum gefunden. Er soll laut Verpackung zuerst 5 Jahre im Whiskyfass und dann nochmals drei Jahre im Sherryfass aufbewahrt. Mild undsein Geld wert.
.....but my taste obviously differs from others who have rated it so much higher. I think that the sherry notes are too strong and obvious.
Lækker næse, god smag, sød og behagelig, og en god eftersmag.
Very smooth with a Demerara sugar and molasses aftertaste tempered with a slight volatile spirit completion.
A surprising rum made in a unique manner.
The first notes don't seem to taste like rum and as the melody continues, there are a lot of mellow things going on. After the first sip, this rum levels out and becomes very nice. I'd buy it again.
Smooth complex. just amazing 5 years in bourbon barrels and the 3 years in chery casks. Yes
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I really like 5+5, it is one of my top choices, 5+3 is quite interesting and I recommend it to all, price is cool, taste is interesting - I advise to have couple of shots, first time we had it we were like - ooh the smell is so so nice, but the taste was rough and dry far from 5+5, the next day I made a small tasting for friends, while trying also El Dorado 8YO, and some "high class" rums, and suddenly the taste "jumped" to the good spectrum... we were surprised, maybe it has something to do with going through young El Dorado which is dryer and more rough, so the final verdict is - it is worth trying and I will buy it some other time :-)
