First a disclaimer, I'm not a big fan of sherry aged rums, it's just not my palate. But I find them a reasonable competitor of other dark, sweet rums and I prefer the sherry style over the sweeter styles because a dryer spirit fits my palate. But this is a fine rum by Doorly's.

Bottle: I'm a bottle snob which is why I post bottle comments, I like the way some bottles look on the shelf. The art of appreciating something labeled "fine" is partly vanity act. I really like the Doorly's bottles, I just wish they were all synthetic cork style toppers, a screw top just doesn't do the end product justice.
Bottle Aroma: Sherry and oak are at the nose immediately, then the rum comes along for the ride.
Glass Aroma: Like a sherry, the spirit opens up and has a sherry dry but sweet nose, the rum pushing the smell out but is not that apparent.
Taste: Rum and sherry really are a great mix and Doorly's XO does not disappoint. It is on the tongue where the rum comes through and tells you this is indeed not a sherry spirit. The heat is low all the way through to the throat. The drink is quite pleasant and is another example of a rum that will convince non-rum fans that rum is a versatile spirit.

I weighted my opinion from 7 to 8 because I know that I'm not a sherry fan, but this is a damn good rum and I hate to weight it downwards with a 7.

Nice dry sipper. Has a nice sherry after taste.
Medium complexity and burn.
Good buy!
Haven't tried it with coke yet, though I expected this would end up being a mixer.

Hele goede rum voor deze prijsklasse. (€25) Afkomstig van Barbados en 6 jaar houtgerijpt. Smaken van karamel hout en wat sherry. Ook nog super zacht. Gewoon top!

Ahh now for my everyday drinker. Great price good noise and just a good mild burn on your throat. Go for it you can't go wrong.

Another from nice, smooth, sweet sippers. Only in Czech is a bit overpriced (according information from others reviewers)

good gracious.....nab a bottle. $14.99 at your local Total Wine. i'm lucky to pass one on my commute so it's my friday pilgrimage. jeez, this stuff is the real thing. take Pyrat and its wonderful liqueur sense and bring back the essence of true dark rum...sort of a lighter, less sweet but much more intense and real Zaya. amazing stuff. i could go on. but i've had too much...cheers

Really light body, but good taste with a light burn. Finishes with a lot of sherry notes.

Fine and not too expensive sherryish rum. I have read from somewhere that they don't put any additives to this rum, so it's quite dry. Many rums are very much sweetened. This is tasteful and nicely sherryish and nutty rum thing. There is sharpness, but there is also balance and quality. For the little money recommended, but don't pay too much. My advice.

This is currently on my bar counter and ready at any time. It is one of the Foursquare/Seale offerings which claim/promote rums with nothing but aging and blending to give the flavors. This one certainly hits the mark. I like it very much. And it’s a good price. I tried this one because I have been hearing a lot about additives (sugars and other spices and other ingredients). I don’t think I have a problem unless there is some misdirection or misrepresentation going on (like charging a premium price for a lesser aged rum). I’m glad I was doing the research or I might not have found/tried this rum.
