This rum has the most sugar and additives added to it that I've tasted so far. Hence I was a bit dubious how this tremendous amount of sugar (over 20 grams per liter) will affect the taste, but I've got a fairly positive surprise. Although the rum definitely tastes sweet (therefore not recommended to people who prefer classic style rums), it still manages to keep a certain balance with the rest of the flavors. These flavors are rather nutty and dried fruit like, I was missing the touch of tropical fruits usually present in rums from the Caribbean. The smell is average for this age, but still very pleasant. My overall experience with this rum is good, but somehow I got the impression that I'm actually drinking a sweet liquor with some rum mixed in it. Also the price tag makes me wonder if I should vote for this rum again, perhaps as a gift (it has a nice presentable bottle with real cork closing and an artisanal stamp as the label).

smooth as you like, slight treacle flavour, always a pleasing effect on the taste buds, over ice and sipped.

Holds the essence of the cane sugar more than some molasses rums, smooth and easy, a lovely example of agricole. Well rounded

As an novice, I'm starting to appreciate the intricacies of Rum tasting & the fact that one mans pleasure is another mans poison. I appreciate that the "Reserva Exclusiva" should be better than the "Reserva" but I must admit that I much prefer the "Reserva", as I find the Exclusiva a little thicker & heavier & thus not as palatable to me.
