Dictador iconic product. Dictador 20 Years Old is aged in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then finished in ex-Port casks. Your rum for the special occasion. Taste it neat!

Not so sweet and kind of spicy. You also get that brute force of alcohol even it's 20yo.
Refinement and significant step up from the 12y Dictador. On the nose, there is walnuts, oak, cocoa, and citrus fruits, the taste starts with sweet dried fruits, mainly raisins, then leather, oak and walnuts in a dry twist, the aftertaste is nicely spicy, and bitter-sweet. It has less unnatural cloying texture and less of walnut liqueur style of its 12y old variant. All and all it is more pleasant and more rummy than its younger brother, but still I have some suspicion that the nutty flavor comes from additives, found similar in cheaper rums, such as Cacique Anejo, Santa Teresa Anejo, Botran 12.
Cinnamon and vanilla notes, oaky in the nose not overly sweet, very interesting rum!
Oh my... Its perfect. I enjoyed the Dictador 12 a year ago, so decided to try more expensive Dictator rum for a small occasion with friend. We couldn't stop sipping and enjoyed this rum for the whole evening. Great aroma, even better taste, smooth and delicious!
Para o que vale no copo, faz-se caro. Não que seja mau, longe disso, mas não se distingue no nível onde quis competir.
Excellent both on the nose and the tongue! Just a shame the finish doesn't quite linger a bit longer.
I got the bottle for my birthday. Design wise very interesting with a Killer tag line « Everyone has some Dictador inside ». Taste wise it is very surprising with strong coffee note. For those who don’t like coffee that could be a tough one. Personally I love coffee, it reminds me a bit a reserve way when I am adding a bit of rum in my coffee. It is very well rounded with nice after taste.
nose coffee and chocolate, same in mouth plus caramel, sweet in the limit ( just a little bit more and it will be too much ), richer than the 12 years old dictador, very smooth rum, coffee and chocolate aromas stay long in the finish ... coffee and caramel are predominant flavors and just 40% ABV makes this rum very easy to drink ...
How can anyone rate this a 2???? Even for a Solera? Have you never tried Bacardi?
Good rum for a Solera. Solid 6.5. Good flavor profile. Lots of Vanilla, some coffee, chocolate and hints of clove. Smooth and sippable. Here is where it falls just short. This is a Solera, which means it is NOT 20 YEARS OLD! It might be only 5% 20 year old rum. Thin, not the best mouth feel. Light, no alcohol punch. Finish is way too short like all Solera system rum. Overpriced.
There is a hint of tobacco and a touch of tar. Overall though its mostly sweet.
"It has a reasonable amount of alcohol burn to reassure you it is a 40% spirit. It’s more like a kind of sherried flavoured vodka. I’m sure such a drink exists somewhere."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
