The bottle and label looked enticing and my favorite dark Jamaican rum (Blackwell) was out of stock, so I thought I'd give this stuff a try. To me it tastes like bad concentrated maple syrup, not like any of the other dark or black rums I enjoy. You can have the nearly full bottle if you want it!
Dark color. Strong on the nose. Sweet taste. I like it but only a little at a time.
Great smooth molasses flavour. Doesn't have a particularly strong finish but easy to drink neat. Sweet and tasty
Super dark with a strong flavor that might be too much for many. I like it with a rock.
Not a huge fan of black rum but I was surprised by how smooth this one is
Dark liquid awaits the taste which hits with a butterscotch flavor right from the start. The flavor abruptly ends after that initial delicious taste. Not a bad rum but I’m cautious as how to drink.
Very heavy on the molasses nose and taste. Have only tried it neat, but am looking forward to mixing it. Very sweet with just enough burn to remind you what you’re drinking!
I’ve been a fan of dark and stormies before it was popular, as a kid my father always had a bottle of dark rum in the cabinet and I love ginger beer. I bought this to mix but on a whim I tried it neat and was blown away at how smooth it was! The strong molasses smell may turn folks off but it’s very complex taste, especially on ice, but amazingly smooth with very little burn! The only bad thing I can say is that the flavor is “clipped” in that it’s flavor upfront with no finish. I’m definitely going to keep a bottle in my cabinet, now to find the best ginger beer!
Having seen a few reviews for black strap style, I needed to try it. Certainly a bold style with lots of complexity, feels heavy on the palette. Not my style as a sipper on the rocks, and overwhelms when mixed with club soda, but works well with ginger beer as a stormy. Would use again that way
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A solid mixing rum. Somewhat sweet and artificial tasting. No replacement for a dark Jamaican rum
